I searched through quite a few posts that referenced this, and they all had different ways to get into it.. can someone explain why I would want to use this, and what I can do with it on the current Command unit?

From what I've read, the W204 uses End call + # + 1 to enter ENG mode, but what should I do with it? Can I use it to access European maps? My friend has a European E320 with the Euro maps DVD, and I would love to load it on there, but he said on the German forums that it doesn't work. Maybe if mine is in European mode it will load the maps? I don't know. I do know that before I go playing in this mode, I would like to know what it is capable of, what I should be doing, and what I shouldn't do, so please chime in!

Plus the secrets thread has a number of entries on the Eng Menu. What ever you do never select any option that says UPDATE, you will be screwed also the DVD region cna only be changed three times.

 

So you need it to install rear view camera or 3rd party nav, you can use it to enable copying from mp3s to the HDD or turning on a compass and off road navigation, and you can change your DVD region code... and that's about it? My friend had said he used it to have an AMG startup screen instead of the Mercedes logo, is that there too?

I wish you could make that Command Warning go away faster...

 

DVD region can be changed as many times as you want.
On the screen where it shows remaining changes, you can push End Call + # + * which will reset remaining changes back to 5.

 

sorry to sound stupid here, but I am understanding this thread correctly when I say that if I enter the sequence End call + # + 1 I will be taken menu where I can change the DVD region? If I were to change the DVD region to Europe would DVDs for Europe work? The reason I ask is that I have a US spec'd C63 here in Europe and had accepted the only way to get Nav working was to buy a replacement Command module.

C350 thanks for update and have sent pm. This is great news as I am getting the same approach my MB here in Czech Republic. Same approach...need a new command system, and no the DVD we can't sell you or we can't let you try it. They say they have no idea whether it work. What a load of BS! They are simply looking at getting $2K for a new head-unit plus labour! That been said, anyone know if the same solution would work on GL 450? Know this is a C-Series fourm, but just wanted to ask.

 

As I found out, you can put Euro Maps on US comand! But just not the original ones! I got mine from the internet, and they worked like a charm! Read here for full explenation!
