Ipod cable

I just picked up my first Benz on Saturday. The car comes with the Ipod feature but I need the cable. Can anyone recommend me where I can pick one up? Thanks.

It should have come with it. Check your glove box if missing go back to the AD.

Salesman is wrong. The cable comes out of the side of the glove box and usually has about 16 or so inches of lead. My dealer installed it as part of the deal and the cable does not come out.

the ipod feature IS the cable,
So you do NOT have the ipod feature at present.

what you DO have is an AUX in the glovebox, were you can hook up any kind of mp3 player.
but you can't control it via the car/steering wheel.

That's not something that plugs in and out.. The wire runs thru the side of the glove box.. If its not there than u don't have the ipod adapter!

You guys are making correct statements for the 2008-09. But if the original poster has a 2010 he may have code 518 which is a media interface in which there are different cables that can be plugged into the vehicle. This Ipod interface will also show the IPOD through the command once utilized. Original poster please clarify what year C and what options you have.

The 2009 has the media interface as well, but the cable is sold separately for like $50 according to my dealer as well. The ipod adapter is also available at a ridiculous cost, and after weighing all the options and trying the MP3 DVD options, I've decided to go with the CF adapter in the PCMCIA slot. Check this thread.

ACMF74: What year is your car? Do you have a square connector located inside your glove box?

I have a 09 P1 package. The connector is small and round.

Thanks.

Sounds like you have basic Audio 20 or 50. No Multimedia? IF you have the small round "connector" on the right side of the glove box that is just a basic 1/8" jack similar to a headphone jack. You can go to a local electronics store and buy a male 1/8" - male 1/8" jack to connect the headphone output of your ipod to your car in which the sound will play. You will not have any control over the ipod via vehicle controls.

If you want true Ipod Integration you will have to purchase the kit from the dealer and either have them or yourself install it. I think the kit is upwards of $400. I could be wrong with pricing though.

If you've got the latest Media Interface (option 518 in Europe), then there is a computer-style connection on the top part of the glove compartiment. Until recently, you had to buy the cable to actually connect your iPod or USB stick/player separately, however since many people (incl. myself) complained and accused MB of outright deception (when you specify an option, it should work without having to pay 70 EUR extra), in Europe the cable now comes standard with the option (price increased though).

This is crazy?????

When I asked about the Ipod option it sounded like I COULD control it from the radio/steering wheel. What use is it to the driver I can only change songs from the glove box.

Who said you could only change it from the glovebox??

Option 518 has full integration with either the APS 50 GPS or the COMAND system (can't be combined with Audio 20).

acmf74: Referencing back to how you described your "connection" it SOUNDS like you do not have an Ipod interface. You have simply and auxilary audio input. This is the small round connector. Auxilary audio inputs are just that. you can input audio to the vehicles sound system. If you are looking for Ipod interface you will have to get the interface.

Again this is just in reference to the description of small round connector. Take a look at the complete glovebox and see if there is as described above the rectangular computer style connector. If so then you have code 518 and will just need to get the cable to connect. If you are in the US and have the '09 model that you describe I highly doubt you have that option though.

part number of Ipod integration? For 2009 W204 (C-class) the integration on a US vehicle without sound system code 810 you will need A204 870 41 94. Since you do not have multimedia this installation should include the amplifier.

That wire pictured is for the Media Interface described previously. You vehicle needs to have code 518 for you to have the necessary connector to make that work. at this time this is not a dealer retrofit. it must be factory installed. Again read the bottom that is on 2009 SUV's SL's and CLS's. You do not have these and again I believe this option is not / was not available on 2009 US spec C-classes. Are you in the US?

2008 CLS 550
2008 CLS 550 iPod mystery

Hi,
I just purchased the 2008 CLS550 Diamond White Edition. Beautiful car! However, we're having some confusion over the iPod situation. The glovebox has a small headphone-type connector. I presume this is a non-integrated connection. Is it possible to have an integrated iPod connection installed?

Thanks so much.
Marie

Thanks.
I have an '09 P1 (US), no NAV, no MM, no HK sound. Factory option 057 provided a cable with white rectangular connector in the glovebox that attaches to the bottom of my 2nd gen iPod Touch (32GB). Steering wheel controls allow me to select albums, artists, songs, playlists, shuffle, etc. The sound is quite good but does not charge my iPod, so I bought a small "Griffin" adapter on Amazon for below $20 which stays connected to the glovebox cable and my iPod charges now.

Mine charges my iPod. I removed it yesterday (been in/out for uploads for about 2 years) to play in the house and it was fully charged. I never charge it in the house-only though the car.

I guess if you have an older iPod, it will charge. I have the 2009 C300 with white cable connector and it did not charge (but now does with the Griffin adapter). I believe 2010 C300 changed to black connector, which charges the newer iPods.
