I did today and it drove nicer than my C300. Beefier steering with more feedback and the car felt more planted to the ground.

It had huge wheels (20s) as oposed to 17s on my C300. Is that what's most likely making the difference?

Good to see someone else that felt the same way. Even though the GLK is on a stretched version of the C frame, you would never know it. The big difference is the bigger engine under the hood. It's hard to recommend a C class anymore when the GLK comes in with more options, bigger engine, and a lower price (comparison of a C300 4matic with P1 and a GLK350 with P1). I thought maybe for 2010 they would add more standard features to the C to compete better, but they didn't. Guess they are hoping that people shopping for a C strictly want a sedan and won't entertain the idea of a C wagon (the GLK is basically a U.S. wagon).

I think MB is thinking exactly that. Some people, me for one, simply don't want the look or a SUV and are willing to pay the "premium" for our beloved sedans...

I had a very tough time deciding which one was better, but in the end got both of them. The GLK is def faster than the c300 and I like the shiftknob better too. But since I'm only 20, going out with friends and stuff I still pick the c300 to drive. But really, the GLK is cheaper than the c300 with more options is very bad for the c300.. ahha

The dealer gave me Glk 300 4matic till they fix my C280...Its a nice car,,but def i would pick my C280 anytime of the day. I like the rear though, especially the LEDS.

However, the front sucks and it's a bit under powered, especially when i compare it to my mother's X3 3.0SI (272 bhp vs 231 bhp).

Handling is good (it comes with 19" wheels as standard) and the suspension is amazing. I didnt expect it to be such a smooth ride.

Conclusion:
Looks: Average/ Poor
Interior: Good (same as the C class)
Engine: a bit week when compared to the C280 due to weight diff. and def low throttle response and bhp compared to the X3

Overall : Buy the C

had 2.5 x3 before the GLK and the GLK absolutely destroys the x3 in every possible way. I dunno why you would think the x3 is better

how about going from a C350 to a GLK 350, I was happy with my loaner GLK350 however when they put me in a C300 it felt like a step down in all areas.

Is the c350 really that much better? I've never driven the c350, but imagine it to be even faster than the glk350.

Depends, seats, interior and such is same, but the suspension and drive train is different. That's the main thing that stands out to me. I could never own a C300 due to lack of power. I'd much rather go with a 3 series or infiniti G

C350 with 18s will feel hands down more planted then a C300.

Going from a C300 to a GLK should be a big difference. just pointing that out since so far everyone keeps talking about C300 to GLK350

oranges to apples

C350 to GLK350

is a closer comparison

Yeah a GLK300 would be a very bad idea. Thankfully in the U.S. you can only get a GLK350. After a long stint in my C300 you kind of get used to the slowness and don't really notice it, till Civic Si blows your doors off ha ha. By the way, when comparing a GLK to an X3 you need to use a GLK350, which by the way is much cheaper than the X3.

I'd still rather pick the C-class. The GLK reminds me too much of a Subaru Forester when they first came out. I really like the look of the C, even over the BMW 3s or X3 (though they're being made over as we speak).

here in Egypt the GLK 300 is a bit more expensive than the 3.0 SI X3 !

The C350 and C300 have different suspension settings? I've never heard that. The C300 Sport and C350 feel the same in all aspects to me..the 350 is just faster.

Also.. going from a GLK350 to a C300 should not be a big difference, since the GLK350 costs LESS than a similarly equipped C300.

..and its not apples to oranges...the engine has nothing to do with the handling/steering and thats what im talking about...an SUV should not feel sportier than a sport sedan....40 extra hp or not..

The handling is great on the glk350, and that extra 40HP destroys the c300
