Keep in mind that depending on the state you'll have to pay salestax, fees, etc. CA seems to be one of them. Afterwards you get to fight them for a refund.

You'd think that was depressing?
Think about alot of us who got it in 2007.
Either way, I bought it, I'm happy with it, no use in worrying about the price I paid for something 2 years ago.

Chevy Silverado, '09 C350 (wife's)
Just got home from the dealer. Holy crap. It took about 3hrs and we finally agreed on 36.5k on the car. The salesman was not even around. We pretty much talked to the Sales mgr the whole time and whew! What a pain. This guy was stubborn and so was my wife.
She stood here ground and got what she wanted. Good for her.
Here in Albuquerque we only have to pay 3% sales tax on the difference of the trade and the new car which is about $400. They are giving us $24k for our trade which we only owe $21k on so we are that much more ahead.
Unfortunately, all of the banks were closed when we got done negotiating so we have to go back tommorow to close the deal. We have a signed buyers order with everything on it so we should be good, right?

Good for you guys! It still amazes me how dealers still play the long-*** negotiating game. With the plethora of information readily available along with a huge base of compatriots (read: forum members! ) it's a shame they still think buyers are naive or un-informed.
The first thing I told my salesperson was that I wasn't playing the three-hour back'n'forth game. He said they weren't interested in that either. 10mins later... done deal. We were only off by $300 so I got them to throw in something and called it a day.
Again, congrats on the new car. Great deal!

I think the color is Palladium Silver C350 with the black interior. It's got the MM pkg, Black wood trim (I really like this color) and the AMG wheels. We are also getting the clear bra on it before it leaves the lot. That's a mistake we made on her last car. It's a very pretty car. I am excited and I know she is.

Guy,
come to LA or OC. Give me your email and I will forward some specials for c-class. If you buy one, don't forget to send me a six pack (I don't work for the dealer)

so you're saying you got it for $31.5k + tax out the door?
We wound up going for an '10 because they didn't have the combo we wanted but if I knew you could get nearly 10k off an '09 I think we would've settled for something. They didn't have the $5k/$4k off at the time. We paid $42k out the door for a '10 C300 4M with just MM. Basically just ~$3k off thru negotiations. Quite a difference.

No panoramic roof. I like it but wasn't a necessity and they didn't have an '09 with one.
The dealer did give us the 5k off along with some other discounts. The way sales tax works here is different than any other state that I have bought a car. They calculate it off of the difference between the trade and the new one. If we didn't have a trade it would have been $36.5k + tax + $300 dealer fees.
We didn't even look at a '10 because we knew we didn't have much room to deal.

2009 C350 Palladium Silver
I just signed the papers to a 2009 C350. MSRP is $47,360 and got it for $38,000 + tax & fees.
P2, MM, Panorama Sunroof, 18" AMG wheels, and Ipod integration kit.
It's in a palladium silver color.

The 10k off I got is real and I don't have the time to prove it to anyone..today is the last day for the incentive and it is month end so I bet one can do even better than my deal..good luck
