Wife wants a C350..

My wife is at the dealership trying to work a deal on a C350. It's pretty loaded. Sticker is 44k and I told her to try to get it for under 38k. Do you guys think it's possible to get it for that price? The dealer only has 2 '09s left. They have a red 300 and a grey 350. Both are pretty much the same option wise. I like the red but prefer the grey. I hope it works out. We'll see.

$6k under seems a little unlikely to me since they've been selling so well. Like you said only 2 left...It's not impossible though....Good luck she'll love the 350

You should do better than that with $5000 trunk money.

She said the dealer told her 39.9k. I told her to leave and try again tomorrow. The dealer said that was bottom line. I looked at Edmunds.com and it said that others were paying 38.8k. The dealer saw that and still wouldn't budge below 39.9k. We will try again later.

We have that too but we aren't telling them that yet.

No, she didn't go crazy over the car. She was/is very calm. She negotiates very well. She did it for her current car (G35 coupe) and I am thinking she will get her way with this one. The salesman is new and not very confident. He had to keep leaving and going to the sales mgr to ask him questions about what to do for the sale. I think/hope the dealer will drop another $1k and seal the deal.

.
Isn't going back-and-forth to the GM a sales tactic they use?

mercedes is giving like $9,000 on the 2009 C350s. Tell that dealer to go blank itself.

For me, $9000 off would be the starting point.

So you'd take it for $39k knowing fully well about the trunk money? In essence what you are doing is paying MSRP at the end of the model year.

Yup. Typical delay tactic. The longer they keep you in the store the better their chances for a frustration buy. Looks like its working based on the above statement.

How do you know about this? On Edmunds.com it says $5k for the 350's and $4k for the 300's.

Maybe I misunderstood what you mean by this. Are you talking about dealer incentives or a down payment. We were gonna put about 5k down.

I am sure people will correct if I am wrong but I believe they mean there is $5k support from Mercedes for this model, so your price right from the get-go should be whatever the dealer quotes you minus $5k. If my assumption is correct then you should go back to the dealer and tell him you agree to his 39k price, minus the $5k.

If you read the other thread on how much people are paying for their Cs, people are getting an 09 C350 for 39k out the door, which includes tax... I believe that is after the 5k off too, which basically washes out the tax & destination. It looks like you're already at the ballpark but can do slightly better if you keep at it.

My last quote I got from a Stealership for a 09 C350 is 38K. This had a sticker of $45.5k...so about $7,500 off. I am going to email back and ask for 38k out the door which will be around 35ish.
I believe you can definitely do better. Ask for 38k out the door. Worse thing they can say is no and you walk out. I bet that they will call you the next day.

Again I have a dealer around me who is advertising their 2009 350s at $9000 off MSRP . I'd certainly want to get around that off before tax and everything.

That's what I like to hear!

I like the post above... 9k off is my starting point - makes sense. People are hurting right now and so is the economy. No matter how many cars the dealership has sold this year, it was less than last years count.

I would just tell the salesman, "ok can I speak to your service manager?" He'll say why, to which you can respond "because at your crazy rates, I'm not buying a car from you but I may choose to bring my vehicle in for service here because it is close to my home if I like your service manager".

He'll get the point

I bought my 2008 C350, at the end of 2008 (for my wife also) for under 30k before tax&lc, it also had a sticker price around 44k And I just received an email from my dealer also advertising 9k off msrp.
You/she can do better. Can you travel to another dealer?

I wish I could go to another dealer but here in Albuquerque, there is only one. But that hasn't stopped me before. I have been looking at some of the dealers in LA to see what they can offer. SO far it looks ok. If I can got to the dealer with a couple of examples of what I can get elsewhere, maybe we can work a deal here.

Yes, call Mercedes Benz of Laguna Niguel and ask for Max. Tell him Bill who beat him up on the price of his C350 sent you (he'll get a kick out of that).
But be fore warnned, you may end up flying out to Orange County California to buy your car, Max is pretty good. You'll save way more then enough to make it worth while.
Plus, that's a nice road trip in your new MB.

I have three MB dealers within 20 miles(one within 3 miles) and drove the 75 or so to buy mine.

This is depressing. I bought my '09 in late '08 and obviously got nowhere near these deals..I should have found a leftover '08
