Performance Package PLUS ?? US market availability???

Now, the european edition is getting a shot of PLUS for the P30 Package??? I wonder if we'll get it in the USA for the C63 (and perhaps other AMG vehicles)?? See below from the Official AMg Website just announced today (10/19/2009):

C 63 AMG with a shot of SLS

Enhanced driving dynamics ex factory for the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG: the new Performance Package Plus is an attractive optional extra that is designed to appeal to the power-hungry sports driver. The Performance Package Plus increases output by 22 kW/30 hp to 358 kW/487 hp.

As a result, the C-Class approaches the level of performance offered by C-Class DTM vehicles, which deliver 377 kW/500 hp. The Performance Package Plus is available for the saloon and estate models and includes an AMG high-performance braking system featuring composite technology on the front axle, a carbon fiber spoiler lip (saloon) and an AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather/Alcantara.

With Performance Package Plus, the C 63 AMG accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and 0 to 200 km/h in 13.9 seconds. This beats the 336 kW/457 hp standard model by up to 1.2 seconds (0–100 km/h: 4.5 seconds; 0–200 km/h: 15.2 seconds). The top speed is 250 km/h (electronically limited).

The improvement in power output to 358 kW/487 hp is due to the AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine's modified engine compartment: the forged pistons adopted from the new SLS AMG super sports car together with new connecting rods and a lightweight crankshaft translate into a weight saving of three kilograms. Reduced
inertia boosts the agility and responsiveness of the uprated V8 engine, which is recognizable from the variable intake manifold painted in titanium grey. New engine management completes the powertrain measures in the Performance Package Plus for the C 63 AMG.

Key data at a glance:

Cylinder arrangement: V8
Cylinder angle: 90°
Valves per cylinder: 4
Displacement: 6208 cc
Bore x stroke: 102.2 x 94.6 mm
Compression ratio: 11.3:1
Output: 358 kW/487 hp at 6800 rpm
Max. torque: 600 Nm at 5000 rpm
Maximum engine speed: 7200 rpm
Engine weight (dry): 196 kg
Fuel consumption NEDC combined: 13.4 (13.6) l/100 km
CO2 emissions: 318 (323) g/km
Acceleration 0–100 km/h: 4.4 (4.5) s
Top speed: 250 km/h*
*electronically limited; figures in brackets: estate model

AMG high-performance braking system featuring composite technology

The Performance Package Plus braking system has been adapted to the enhanced driving dynamics. A new AMG high-performance braking system ensures greater stability when driving dynamically, with compound brake discs on the front axle and red painted brake calipers all round showing the AMG logo. The brake discs feature a composite design and are connected to an aluminium bowl to avoid temperature peaks. The connection between the disc and bowl is new: instead of the usual screw connection, the aluminium bowl is now connected to the brake disc via cast-in arms. The advantage is more homogenous temperature distribution on the brake disc.

A further identifying feature of the Performance Package Plus is the AMG carbon fiber spoiler lip on the boot lid (saloon). In the interior, the AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather with a grip area trimmed in Alcantara feels good, while at the same time making a striking visual impact.

Extended appointments in black designo leather

New black designo leather as an optional extra will enhance the interior even further and covers the upper section of the dashboard, the upper door trim and the armrest on the center console.

As much as I would like to see it here... i highly doubt it will make it to the states.. anyway here is a photo i took from the M5 boards. Maybe you can order the brakes and the CF spoiler separately...

Nice find, thanks. Note that the one I posted came from the AMG Private Lounge Boards:

As I posted in the PL.

The AMG Private Lounge is a US based website. Since they specifically posted this announcement on this forum, it is HIGHLY likely this option will come to the US.

You will get no reply until they annouce this publicly. This is because as soon as they tell you, it goes public and more than likely someone gets it wrong. Then they have to hurry up and put out their official version ASAP.

They want 100% control.

+1

Also, as I've seen others request, keep "cross-posting" from the PL to a public forum to a minimum (especially the chat sessions with AMG themselves) - allegedly, it's called "private" for more than just marketing exclusivity. While I personally see nothing wrong with Newz's posting in this instance, I would hate to see it (PL) abused and subsequently taken away.

A bit OT... If you go to the "E63 University" micro-site, the new w212 E63's P30 appears quite similar. It also has several other "drool-worthy" options IMHO.

Note: It wasn't a chat/private forum posting that they posted and it was not private info. As you'll see on the C32/C55 forums, this info below my post there is already readily available outside the private lounge and the parts are also available in Europe. Again, is this a trial balloon, cause if it is, I say DO it and they will come!!!

It is always great to see enhancements to the C63, but in reality, increasing horsepower even a smidge is pointless since the car can not even transfer the power it already has to the ground. AMG totally under-tired the car. The greatest advancement would have been to introduce 4-matic to help harness the existing 451 HP.

Audi had it right with the RS 4, but just was a bit shy on the power. Love my C63 but frustrated by the lack of grip, even after going to 265s on the back. Tired of having the traction control light come on and bog the engine. Now it is up for sale.

Sorry gang!

I really don't agree, I can use the extra power and I can tell you that I do not want all wheel drive. I solved the esp intervention by running all the time in ESP sport or with it off. But this is not a good solution for anyone that just stomps on the throttle.

Just look at the RS 6. More power than the E63 or the M5 and it is slower in just about every way.

They can keep their all wheel drive systems.

Sorry to hear you are selling your car.

Yes I agree drive with ESP off or Sport ( I guess I never drive in sport mode, always off).
Just learn to control the foot some and the car will do fine. Feather the throttle on takeoffs and then the control will be fine.
You can always go the extream, like I am going to do, and get rears flared some and put on some 310+ on the rear andthat might help get the power to the ground.
Drive safe

I love this line:

The new super sedan from Daimler gets a 30-horsepower injection over the standard AMG model
I thought a C300 was standard

i think they should start considering these as retrofitable kits too... i mean its just not fair for the owners who already has the car...

some say get a tune and be over it.. but with the new engine internals, the car will respond better and when the new engine gets a tune, it will surely be better than the "standard" version...

i want this in my sl63!!

LOL!

Put 275s on the rear, and get SOME GOOD TIRES. I don't have any problems with grip unless I use ****ty tires with a high tread wear and I got 70 more HP than you.

AWD would totally kill this car.

It would be really nice if they also fitted the headers that are used on the SLS and also added the MCT with launch control and the "AMG" button from the E63.
