Question Blackening tail light lenses

So apparently there's some issues with using Lamin-X to blacken the tail lights, and someone in my office recommended using this stuff instead.

Has anyone here ever tried it or have any experience with it?

If I had to blacken my taillights, I would go for the Nightshades stuff instead of Lamin-X. Lamin-X will be VERY difficult to put on for rears.

The only hard part about the Nightshades is getting an even coat. You may want to practice on some spare glass pieces first.

The only thing that concerned me was the fact that it makes them completely black until illuminated. A little too dark for me.

I'm not worried about being too dark when not illuminated, I'm more worried about being too dark when they are illuminated.. my whole car is silver and black, so that's not a big issue. I would really appreciate seeing an installation if anyone has had it done.
