The coolant level warnings anyway are so common in this model that any additional info would be very useful.

2009 Mercedes Benz C350 CDi
Just thought I would provide an update to the problem I had. The dealer replaced the SAM control unit, updated software and coding update and it seems to have fixed the problem.

Did they try the software update and SCN coding first? Would have been useful to know if that would have been sufficient.

I just did the same exact thing yesterday
Just an update. Took the Car to Mercedes Benz dealer. They have not been able to identify why the warning comes up. Checked codes, software etc and cannot find anything wrong. Funny though, on the way home from picking the car up, the warning came up for about 5 seconds and then disappeared. The dealer is now looking further into it.

Coolant low message
I would certainly be interested too. There isn't much more than the front SAM and the cluster that are linked to the sensor and the sensor warning at the cluster. A dealer may well have found an issue at the cluster, not completely fixing it, then an issue at the front SAM, not completely fixing it, and then adding a bit of coolant which together with replacing the parts fixed the issue.

Possible Corroded Connector on Level Sensor
If your level seems good then check the connector to the coolant level sensor. Sometimes the pins on the connector get corroded. Clean the connector and see if this fixes the problem. If not you may consider changing the coolant level sensor. If your MB is pre 204 you may be able to by the level sensor. For my c300/ 204 I had to buy the whole coolant reservoir. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would put this job at a 3.5 .

Hi
thanks for that.mines a 2002 CL55 but same applies.
i changed the complete coolant tank and sensor, checked connections, still same,I've just been living with it for about eight months now.
also other probs but don't stop me using her. SRS light always on and the electric fan sensor wasn't working. I did an old school fix on the latter. Fitted a mercury switch from a sixties kenlow type fan into top hose. Not as efficient but seems to work well enough!

Coolant sensor and washer fluid sensor
I bought my 2007 CLK 350 4 years ago from a mechanic and dealer, and both lights have continually been on regardless of fluid level. I didn;t know about the specialiszed wiper fluid til today though. I'm just used to it now. I was going to change out the reservoir but after the no go recommendations here, maybe not.
