Windshield Wiper Squeaks

Hey guys,

Getting a pretty awful squeak now on the drivers side of the windshield wipers, its so loud that it drives me nuts. Only had this car for around 2000km so don't think its the blades going old or something.

After listening closely with the blades on and cleaning the windshield, wipers, it seems like its coming from the blade motor itself (or the part that goes under the hood) To better describe the position, i added a photo, its not from w204, but u guys get what i mean

Any tips? Wd-40 or anything? The service centre is quite far from my place.

Thanks guys!

Do not use RainX or other kinds of glass cleaner on the outside of windshield. It is a way of getting rid of squeaking noise.

In my experience very strong glass cleaner (don't get it on your paint) followed by rain-x actually gets rid of most wiper and rain sensor problems that I've had.

But the OPs problem seems to have nothing to do with that.

For others who find this thread from a search.

New from the factory, the windshield has some kind of coating that does make the wipers make a awful noise going across it. That is normal. I just put new wiper blades on my 2 year old C300 and they're very quiet. I don't think its so much the blades as its that the factory coating is long gone.

I know this was a while back, but I am hearing the wiper motor whine now. Where exactly did you spray the WD-40?
