REALLY NOW???

I was checking my email right now and saw an ad at the top of my screen. It was a BMW 328i ad, and I was shocked at what it said.

"0-60 comparisons-
328i = 6.3
Audi A4 = 7.1
Mercedes C350 = 7.1...
Performance Now, Maintainance later...Own a BMW today"

What's shocking is how dumb they think we are...the 6.3 run for the 328i was obviously with MT cuz AT is 7.1. But this part pissed me off...C350 = 7.1???? REALLY??? HMMM so I guess it just happened to lose 50 horsepower and gained 100 lbs? You've got to be *****ing me right now. C300 = 7.1 NOT C350...I know I might seem like I'm over reacting , but I just thought I would share it with my fellow benz fans

Dude I totally agree. Just like when BMW, Audi and Lexus do their ads and instead of featuring the Sport, they put in the Luxury model and put in some bull**** figures. Its completely false.

And Insideline tested the C300 at 6.9 Seconds 0-60mph and I even managed a few runs pushing 6.8 (though aggressively) so there is no way in hell a C350 does it in 7.1. That is just a pure lie!

C350
it could also depend on whether it has the 18" rims or not... the 17" should be a couple tenths of a second quicker for both C300 and C350

I had a BMW E90 335i before. The maintenance was pretty bad. I had to open up the engine in the first 6 months of ownership due to a cam shaft problem. Had to replace the cam shaft. had a fuel pump problem, ecu problem, etc etc. All within the first 6 months of ownership. The car spent more time in the dealership than in my house. When in the dealer, since the car was just sitting there, my BMW had a 0-60 time of 4 months! I'm VERY happy with my 0-60 time of 7.1 on my Benz.

Unfortunately lying is a big part of some companies' ad campaigns. What a joke! I think Motor Trend rated the C350 at 5.8 sec. 0-60...much faster than a 328i.

In this country the Advertising Standards Authority would have BMW's guts for garters.

"Slow" is subjective and relative. For me it isn't slow, especially considering all my friends in Europe drive hatchbacks with smaller displacement and lower horsepower engines.

And 7 seconds 0-60mph is not actually slow. It's slow compared to supercars and general high-performance models but these aren't meant for that purpose. For everyday cars, 7 seconds is plenty fast.

it's not no 7.1 sec!

"This works to the Benz's advantage in straight-line acceleration, where the baby Benz just plain thrashes the A4. The 60-mph mark comes up in 6.3 seconds (6.0 seconds with 1 foot of rollout like on a drag strip), fully 0.6 second quicker than the A4. Similarly, the Benz sails through the quarter-mile in 14.5 seconds at 96.5 mph, a half-second quicker than the Audi."

If I had bought the C for 0-60 time, then I had definitely made the biggest mistake of my life.Performance is just a bonus. What surprises me is that the BMW guys still haven't figured out why some are choosing the C over the 3-series.

this slogan would make sense for Lotus or smth like that, but for BMW?? stupid i think. i'm pretty sure 90% of bmw customers do care about reliability a lot, most of which even put that on top of performance.

Haha definitely agreed guys...the c class is a fine machine for what it is. Only time that acceleration pisses me off is some douchebag that i know who has a 350z. According to him, any car that has less than 300hp is "garbage." To him, my friend's A4 2.0t and my IS250 are considered "garbage." Ah I wish if only I could smoke him in a race to shut him up, it would make the world a better place

C300's can keep up with 350z's

Remember.... emphasis on keep up... i dunno if they smoke them or not.. ... i was a passenger in a friends car when he decided to do this ... i honestly don't beleive in open traffic racing... but... he was keeping up to the Nissan...and then again, he started taunting a G35 coupe... although.. that retched thing was modded.. It just simply blew him out..

Sounds about right since the 350z is actually a car that attracts douchebags.

My 6mt is definitely faster than 7.1 sec from 0-60. I didn't really buy it for that reason though. I like the handling (which needs little improvement) and the feel of the car on the highway.

From what I've read MB is conservative in their 0-60 times and gas mileage. This seems to be true with my C350 which has acheived over 28 mpg on the highway and feels faster than 6.1 which MB advertises.
