Winter Tires + allignment?
So I got the Dunlops 3D installed yesterday and I realize that my allignment is off. My car tends to drift towards the right when I'm not holding the steering wheel. My mechanic said something to me last year about how winter tires will usually cause allignment issues where as summers don't? It doesn't make sense to me as to why winters will cause that problem just seeing if anybody else has had that problem

tons of people have this problem. in fact, my car pulls to the right right now. i just havent had in it to be fixed bc it's fairly minor. its been like this since day 1..the mb tech says a lot of Cs come like that from the factory. ive never heard of such a thing but they did say they'd realign it.
is it possible you're car has always been slightly out of alignment and it's just more noticeable with the new tires?

hmmm.. I don't think my car had any alignment problems (drifting right). I went to check again and found out that I don't have the dunlops 3D. I have the Dunlops ds2, though I asked for the 3Ds. hmm, I think i need to talk to my mechanic and get this figured out. I just drove to the airport and the tire noise was TERRIBLE. It was so loud, it wasn't even comfortable. Can somebody tell me that if the Dunlop 3Ds have less tire noise?

I have 3D's and the noise doesn't seem to be excessive comparing to stock Continental all-seasons. But the tire shop did mismatch my winter tires at the beginning (1 3D and 3 S3's, I know it's as strange as heck and I still can't figure out how that could've happened) and the noise was bad until I had them replaced the S3's with 3D's.
Again, noise level is all subjective, but I find the 3D's with the same staggered stock setup to be similar to the ProContacts on the same rims.

A few different ones
If your tires are brand new you should let them break in at least 500 miles preferably 1000 miles ... once they are broken in if the car still has an alignment issue I would get it done then.
When tires are brand new it is like when you get a pair of new shoes, they need to break in ...

I just got 4 new winter tires...Pirelli Sottozeros, and immediately noticed a strong tendency of the car to pull to the right. Dealer tried switching tires between left and right side....but to no avail. Finally they had to do a full 4 wheel alignment with the addition of special "spacer" to correct the problem. Dealer told me that the winter tires greatly magnify any misalignment. In retrospect I did feel a little pull to the right with my original conti tires, but ignored it because it was very slight. Service bulletin at the dealer suggests that the C300s need a 4 wheel alignment every 12 months or 20K kms. Anyways....$120 later, the car is driving beautifully, and the new tires are great!

oooh, I see thanks for the input guys! So what happened to me is that apparently he said the 3Ds were all out of stock so I got bumped down to DS2s. Allignment issue wise.. he said that he can re-allign it for me but then when I put on my summers again I'd have to re allign them again. This way when summer comes I just have to put on my summers and be done with (no need to reallign again).

I have staggered 17" 3D and no issues, handles great and quiet, great in snow.
However, the install was a total botch and had to take it back.
- All tires wrong pressure.
- rear 245 installed on front rim visavis
- rear rim with front tire installed on front
Check this all out first as they usually have hacks installing tires and every time any tire shop touches my tires they are all at 35psi.
