C300 4matic engine/transmision/road noise

Has anyone experienced some noise from there car that almost makes the car sound like motorcycle when you slow down. I don't know how to explain it. It seems like it may be coming from a bearing or something. I just took it to the dealer and they replace a rod, but it's still there. I'm taking it back again this week just wanted to see if anyone has experienced the same issues.

The car has been perfect otherwise. Let me know. Just want my car sounding quiet again.

check tires for feathering (search), and cross rotate .... if not directional.

Yep. Run your hand counter rotation across the tread of the tyres & check for cupping & feathering. You don't by any chance have Continental tyres do you? They sound just like a shot wheel bearing & once noisy even changing rolling direction by cross rotating won't stop them - new tyres required.

Just checked tires they are okay, but they are Continental. I'll try to record noise today and post.

ya, I always say roughback ... (like oil rig worker "roughneck" ) ... , and smooth ahead, for feathering wear indication.

I once removed severe cupping on a friend's camaro, using a wood planer with a rasp cutter. Put tires on rear, jacked it up, set it in gear at idle, and worked tool across tread, with steady stream of cold water. It worked, but once was enough.

Hok, how many miles and what rod was replaced?

I have about 22K on the car and they said that it was the lower tension rod to the transmission tended to be a problem and made noise as you accelerate. They said it was making a little noise and the other didn't seem to be, but to bring it back in if i had issues and they would replace the other. They couldn't give me the invoice as the printer was down, but all was under warranty. I can tell you the exact parts when i get the invoice Wednesday if your interested.

I just took it for a spin again to listen and it almost sounds like there is a hole in my exhaust. I'm going to MB on Wednesday to ride with them. It is almost another noise that is made along with the engine noise. I don't think they are the tires. Almost like when your radio station doesn't come in to clear. When i first heard it i thought it was the radio signal then when i switched the station i was like oh it's the engine. I hope they can figure it out this week. the engine just doesn't sound smooth running rather it's very choppy sound like the static from a radio signal.

Might be an inlet system or vacuum air leak. This should throw a fuel trim code. Also check that an exhaust heat shield is not touching anything including the propshaft.

Post the noise.

Just got a call today. It looks like the right bearings went. I guess I was right. Can't believe that it went so early. They will fix tomorrow. Let's see if that does it.

Out of curiosity, are these being replaced under warranty? Or are they considered a wear and tear item?

Thanks.
