occasional smell of coolant
I just turned over 5000 mi on my ride. I noticed a bout a week ago that occasionally I smell coolant faintly. Took it in and the shop foreman could not find any leaks. He mentioned some c300 have had a waterpump seal leak a small amount. He said that the ac box will sometime get standing water that will smell. If it continues to be a problem they will treat it. Of course when we were in there it did not smell. Only a couple of minutes, mostly on start uo. Anyone have this issue?

The smell of coolant is very different from the smell out of your AC box.
(the smell of the AC smells like rotten egs.)

I've had the periodic faint coolant smell in the past as well.
I kept an eye on my coolant level and never saw any leaks under the car so I never worried too much.
I also haven't had the smell in quite some time (I'm at 27k miles now). I'm not sure what the cause was.

the service guy checked the coolant level, which was fine and could not see any leaks. I guess I will jsut wait and see what happens. If the smell continues or get worse I will take it in and leave it with them.

have you checked the smell of the washer reservoir ? Push down on the top of cap on the reservior the next time your hood is up and see if it has the same smell
