I've driven both extensively and here's my opinion. I think the 3 Series interior looks more expensive from a design standpoint, and uses slightly nicer materials than the C-Class interior. On the other hand, I think the C-Class interior has better build quality. It feels as solid as a rock.
I remember going to an autoshow a while back and sitting in the G37, C300, and 328i and thinking the Mercedes interior was the worst of the 3. This was long before I ended up buying one. I think the C-Class interior makes a poor first impression but grows on you over time. I really like it now...I prefer it to the 328i/G37 interiors for sure.

Yep, the door panels are without doubt the worst part. I'm sure MB will remedy this soon.
