I am also thinking about tuning my 2008 4MATIC C300. I think anywhere under $500 is worth it for a 20HP increase and smoother shifting. I feel like my car lags so much now, imo.

I happen to have a friend at RennTech and he tells me honestly 20 hp. is about it and it could be less and 25 hp way too optimistic.....he says you will feel some change but it will not be exciting by any measure and after you drive it for a couple weeks you will notice nothing.....As far as I`m concerned for something south of $1000 it`s just not worth it....Jim

Sure it can. You're thinking of "SEMA laws" which state that you can use aftermarket parts like aftermarket oil filters, etc. which comply with OEM specifications. Once you deviate from OE spec., they can drop coverage.

Even that 20 hp estimate on the 300 seems high to me.

Actually he did say that it very may well be less than 20 hp and he couldn`t guarantee even a 20 hp increase. Not a good deal as I see it.

Just read an article by GFORCE for an ECU upgrade for my C300 Sport. Chip originally sold for $400, they are now $75 with shipping included. Has anyone ever used one of these?

My 2002 S500 ecu had water damage so I had to replace it. I found a shop here in Detroit MI to replace the faulty unit and program the mercedes ecu immobilizer. They are located downtown Detroit MI. Not sure if they do upgrades but their website is http://www.mercedesecm.com My part number was 1131530079 and this is a Bosch ecu.

C350
I had the Powerchip ECU upgrade and it made my car stall when driving on the freeway for no reason. I would not recommend it at all, its super dangerous.

I have had my ECU put back to factory & all is well now. $$$ down the drain.

Posts so I don't have to. As far as the OP goes, it sounds like a good deal, take it if you want it. Just get the updated warranty in writing.

This is a no brainer. I was referring to car dealerships who void all your warranties because you have an ecu chip. obviously if you alter the part, that specific part is not covered
