The state of eyelid modding?

Read through ALL of the eyelid threads. It seems that the Polarg M4s are the current state of the art of eyelids? The LED threads seem to all end in disaster with sockets being burned out, etc.

I did see a thread about an official Japanese MB LED... Has anyone scored any here and, if so, from where? Would there be enough interest to set up a group buy if we found a vendor, to, at least, save on shipping from Japan?

+2 I've seen SOME people get good results using LEDs...but they are few and far between. Most have experienced burn outs and color changing after a few uses. I went with the Polargs and have been very pleased. They aren't as bright as the pics you'll see of the LEDs...but they still look much better thn stock nd are pretty much worry free.

My LEDs are still fine. I've yet to see any true damage. Other than what the distributor entails. PolarG's are nice too, but the LEDs go better with my HIDs. Also, mine don't change color :]

I have changed my Polargs for led about 2 weeks ago because one Polarg stops working. A company where i do some bussines with are selling those leds.

I also bought the leds from the gb, but i dont want to install them after all the burning storys.

So i asked them of they ever had this probs with their leds but they havent heard that kind of things, so i give it a try.
They are still working and not changing collor. So hope they will keep on working. Its a big company here who sells also the best HID kits with 2 year warranty over here. So i hope that the leds are the same quallity and keeps working. We will see.... Im happy with it. Still have to make some pics off them and share it.

Basically, the key for LED eyelids is to get ones WITH LOAD RESISTORSSSSS. And you should be fine.

And those of you that have gone polargs - what is the best (as in safe with no electrical issues) matching fog light bulbs? Non - HID that is...

Anything within the 4300k range will come close. Maybe 5000k since halogens still have the slight yellowish glow even at higher color temp ranges.

I'd look into Philips Crystal Visions, Philips Diamond Visions, GPThunders, or Hellas.

Those were the brands...And try taking a look at Royce118's pictures. He has the diamond visions. Also, if you type in crystal vision into the search bar, you'll find one thread with quite the number of pages. That one has pictures of the Philips Crystal Vision Fogs. Although now, Hellas are recommended since they're reliable/long lasting. Philips are just mostly known for their name/decent quality, while the GPthunder's are just a cheap alternative that seems to be popular among the BMW/E9x crowd.

Is there a reason not to go HID?

Tis a pain in the **** to install, for people like me that is. :P
There's the hassle of taking the bumper off, mounting the ballasts/error cancellors, drilling into the cover, etc.

Im not a fan of anything thats not plug and play - just personal preference. Id just rather not deal with anything electrical later on down the road.

On a random note, wow Pat. Quite the former collection of cars! Two of em really caught my eye. Being the M3 and the Range Rover of course. How were they?

I can understand it. I just figure the risk is usually pretty small nowadays. Although it is why I was asking about LEDs in the first place - stories of blown circuits really put me off. And Polargs seems to be pretty cheap as well.

Wish I could justify the cash to do the E-class LED transplant for the fogs, but that is just not going to happen.

The M3 was awesome, I still miss it, mainly the SMG. The supercharged RRS was a pig, it weighed so much so Im glad that was my only lease. The RRS is what made me move back to a high powered sedan.

I just ordered a pair of these before i came across this thread, now that really concerns me, as to polarg M4s, arent they just light bults?, I heard you will need resistors if you switch? no?

Never came across the LEDs you bought. Try them and let us know how it works out. As for the Polargs you wouldn't need any resistors. They're all plug and play and error free. Mine has been on for quite a while now and haven't got issues.
