Black out chrome strip

What's the best way to black out the chrome strip on the trunk right above the licence plate? Is that thing removable?

Grabbing some black vinyl from a graphics store and doing it yourself would be the cheapest way to go. Not sure if it's removable, but it seems to be bolted on from what I can guess. You could take off the trunk lid lining and check.

as Snarling said, just vinyl wrap it. That little piece isn't worth the trouble and effort to take off and paint, risking creasing or snapping the piece on removal.

We can order the piece in black by the dealer here in Europe.

The basic C-Class here in Europe (called Classic) have this trim in black.

But i think vinyl wrap is cheaper and much easier that replace the trim

Has anyone found vinyl in MB colors? The only alternative to chrome I might try is to wrap it in Palladium.

Thanks, Kenc, but probably not. I don't want to start going down the CF route. I actually had my CF Euroteck diffuser painted Palladium. I did find Downshift Graphics and they said they would look into matching Palladium for vinyl. I will try to do the trunklid chrome bar and work on my original Sport grille, now that I have a C63 style black grille in stalled.

Well that's why I HAD bought it originally...I applied it to the chrome strips while they were still on the grill and it looked great...but when I pulled the chrome off to wrap them I realized that the horizontal bars were smooth and finished so I just left them like that. But it does work well for the grill, window trim and that trim over the license plate

What kind of tools do I need to do the wrapping?

To wrap the chrome strip above the license plate? Just a blade to cut the tape. You can put the vinyl on while the chrome strip is still on the car

The grill? You'll need a flat screwdriver or something similar to remove the chrome strips from the grill (they were just held on w/ double sided tape)...or you can just lay the tape over them while they are still on the grill (you might get some peeling around the edges doing it this way though because the tape won't go all the way around). My grill is an aftermarket grill I got from EBay...not sure what's involved in taking the chrome strips of an OEM grill.

Again the part is an MB part and comes in black or chrome. But there again maybe not in the States. Try Getmercedesparts.com.

Hmm pretty expensive. Depends how much you are going to use. If ur just using it for the license plate trim then I wouldn't bother ordering all that. You can get Trim Brite from Amazon for like $5

Anyone try to wrap the satellite antenna to match the car? I'm going to try to find some palladium silver vinyl and see what happens.
