HELP!! How do I enable Backup Camera in Engineering Mode with Command Update?

HELP!!

I can't find the backup camera option in engineering mode. I had my command updated by the dealership in october 2009. I saw somewhere in the forum that it is the "first" option in 7.7 HU, but that is "BT CONTACT PATCH". Surely that can't be it, can it? Any help would be greatly appreciated it.

on the 7 HU parameters, scroll down to the next few pages by pulling the entire COMAND knob towards the back of the car.

Thanks Josh!! You're a life saver.

Do you know if a blank message should show up when I put it into reverse if I haven't installed the camera, yet have the function enabled?

Did you install your camera via headliner or sill?

Interesting....Mine don't say that. Maybe I need to leave it on and leave the car off for a longer period of time

Hi, do you know if we activate rear camera ON in Eng menu is sufficient to activate the rear camera?

I have activated this option in my car but when I put Reverse the screen doesn´t work, i only see a black background, no messages showed.

There is somehow to activate the rear camera without going to dealers?

Thanks!

that is exactly how you activate the rear camera. I remember there being multiple options within the back camera option menu, and I chose the SRVC.

Hi guys, where you able to activate the camera via software? Is it strictly needed to go a Mercedes dealer?

I'm also unable to activate the reverse camera. I chose that camera is installed via engineering menu, but nothing happens when I put transmission to R... No black screen, nothing. I cannot see multiple items on engineering menu depending to reverse camera (with SRVC-option etc), just an option if the camera has been installed or not. Please help!

I've tried to enable and disable it also, no effect... My Comand engineering menu's HU-category (7) has only 17 parameters when some of users has reported that it should have more than 20... For example, parameter 21 should be the type of reverse camera, but I don't have that parameter at all. Maybe I'm also missing some other necessary parameters?

I'm also having pre facelift W204 (2007/2008) with Comand NTG4, only 2 pages on 7 as I recall - the last parameter was number 17...

Here's my HU-parameters at the moment, and reverse camera isn't working - no black screen or nothing else when I put to reverse (automatic transmission):

It's quite different than Doa's... What are BT contact plate- and entertainment-options?

Having problem activate rear view camera

Have you got your answer yet coz i'm having the same problem with you.
rear view camera is installed, engineering command for rear view camera is activated but when i put to reverse still nothing on screen.
I suspect there is still a power cable which is not connected on the head unit and where should it be connected to, please help..... anyone have encountered this and have solved the problem?

Having similar issue and looked though the numerous threads
  1. Camera is enabled, I DO get the "check Surroundings" message.
  2. Video Aux is turned off (tried with AUX ON as well)
  3. tested the camera by plugging it into a TV (using power and ground from car and I get video signal so it cannot be the camera
  4. Tried a different FAKRA cable
  5. Tried the second green fakra input on the command
  6. Turned system car off and on, let the car sit for 10 minutes to allow updating

with no luck, any idea what else i can check? i have another camera on the way but since i was able to get an image on the TV that should not be the issue?

If I can recall correctly, the camera enabled itself after I switched the car on the next day. Are you guys correctly tapping the power to the reverse lamp?

I am not tapping the power from the reverse lamp, i am going direct to a fuse using "add in fuse" so the camera is always powered so that should not be the reason.

i will wait and see when i receive another camera that i ordered
