Tire Recommendations

I have a c350 rwd. My car just failed a safety test because of the tires are too bald. I only have 37000km (23000 miles) on the car. I believe the factory tires are continentals.

Isit normal for these tires to go out so soon? I thought tires are suppose to last 50000 - 80000 kms.

What tires do you guys recommend to get ?

Thanks

where do you live?

i recommend the pirelli p zero nero m+s..

great tires both dry, wet and under light to moderate snow with 4wd.

steering response is great as is stability under braking.

you should get better wear as well due to the treadwear rating of 420 (i think)

I think it depends on how you drive. I just posted about my wifes car. She got 41000 miles on her first set of tires and I've heard of people barely getting 20000.

If you never see snow or freezing temps, or have dedicated snows, Michelin PS2. If you do, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus or Continental DWS. Check tirerack.com and in the tire section look for the survey tab for different categories of performance.

there are safety tests? We dont get those in the US.

anywhoo, a lot of people recommend the micheline PS2s because of good traction, tire wear as well as good road noise. they will cost a small fortune $1000+US for all four

If you have tirerack.com send whatever you choose to one of their approved installers in Buffalo or Detroit, you can probably save quite a bit in international shipping and what I understand are higher installation costs....a nice day trip!

This varies state by state across all 50...some have inspections, some not.

Michelin PS2 are good tyres... Had them before and just changed them for Vredestein ultrac sesanta, not my first choice but 4 new Michelin ps2 are 1050 euro over here and the tyreshop says that the Vredestein are really good tyres. And i must say, they feel the same as my Michelins.... And they have a nice profile. Have them on my car for about 600km and still like them. First i had conti's but they are to noisy. So i can reccomend the Vredestein tyres. But dont know if they are availlable in the US?

If you want longer treadlife, try to stick with all-season tires - they will generally wear longer, but at a reduction of steering response and possibly some dry/wet grip.

I've got a set of Bridgestone RE960 A/S on my 530i... treadwear rating is 400 and they wear very well so far. However, I doubt you'll get 80k km out of them... maybe if you rotate... maybe. As far as performance, they're actually not far off Dunlop Sport Maxx summer tires that I had on there before - slightly less responsive, but excellent in the dry and wet.

In Summer tires, the Yoko V550 is wearing nicely and they are almost noiseless on my C350. Michelin's are excellent those made in France, but the Brazilian are NDG.

As for the Continental's, in a scale from 1 to 10 are number 1,000,000 in my book. The day I rolled the car off the dealership I blew one up, one month later a bubble appeared on a second, and a pair of four I had purchased some time ago loosened the belts in no time. Besides, they did not honor any of these damages, even through MB. So for mi it is thanks, but no thank you.
