You'll have a better response if you post this in Detailing section

Menzerna polishes for me.

Are you looking for an OTC hand or machine polish? What's your goal, swirl removal? scratch removal?

Do not use this polish!!!!!. It is highly abrasive. Go to the detailing section and read about the many professional products available.

Too late. Just used the product yesterday. Now I'm a worried because ive read reviews that it may strip a layer of paint off because it is silicone based. My main goal was to remove swirl marks on my black c350 by hand.

Sorry to hear about it, but what is done is done... No use crying over spilled milk.

Anyway, I usually use a product called "Scratch-X" I don't recall who makes it, but it is a great product. I used it on my black infiniti and it took out all the swirl marks as as well as any fine scratches such as fingernails in the door handles or by people walking by the car. I am not sure how abrasive it is or if it takes off a layer of paint as you worried with the Nu Finish... But I can attest to how well the product works, maybe someone else can testify to its harshness?

Hope I was at least of some help.

EDIT: After reading the two below posts, I can confirm I also have the Meguiar's Scratch-X remover, works on all scratches from swirl marks to deep scratches. Works great on black cars. Just make sure you re-wax after as it exposes the vehicles clear-coat (as it is supposed to do).

There is no way you took paint off....the car is clearcoated...doubtful even a layer of that was removed. Rest easy and buy a quality product. Too many to list here....as everyone else said...read the detail forum, great info and techniques there.

And Meguiar's Scratch-X is great stuff.
Took some belt buckle scars (previous owner) off of my bike tank. Very reliable product!

You didn't strip any paint. And there's nothing wrong with using abrasive polish as long as you know what you're doing. When you polish, what you're basically doing is stripping layers of the clear. This is ok to do as long as you're not continuously polishing one section over and over. This is where a paint thickness gauge comes in handy to measure the level of clear you have left. If you're polishing by hand and not machine polishing, I highly doubt you'll have a problem, especially with OTC products.

Zaino is ok, but overpriced for what they offer. Also there's a strong hinting among the detailing community that Zaino is basically just repackaged Chemical Guys product, so you might as well just buy Chemical Guys who make great detailing products. Really the best polish out there that I've used is Menzerna IMO, but might be out of price range of most.

But don't take my word for it, do some research for yourself and come up with your own conclusions. Good resource is Autopia, Autogeek, and DetailingBliss forums. Also you can always hit up Phil at DetailerDomain for advice as he's a sponsor here. Greg at DetailedImage is also a good resource, but they're no longer sponsors here.

X3 and 2012 C coming soon
I have used tons of different products from very expensive to very cheap. Your safest bet in your own garage is Meguiar's Cleaner Wax. Apply by hand or machine and remove by hand. After, you can machine polish with a micro fiber bonnet. Meguiar's products make it super easy. I used to use Nu Finish on a black car and it worked very well. Don't worry. Just don't over do it. You don't have to spend a ton of money to get great results in your own driveway.

I agree with AZN. Go to some detailing sites and get pointers.

Zaino is my preference

I've used all kinds of products, and I have to admit on the advice of others, you simply can not beat using the Zaino products, especially the car wash.
I have since purchased some of their waxes, and wow, you can tell the difference, it costs a little more, but well worth the price, in my opinion.
