Magnaflow X Pipe Condition

Do all "new" Magnaflow x-pipes look like the one I received? I haven't see the pipe in person yet but my co-worker called telling me it must have been used before because of the condition it is in.

This was purchased off Amazon btw. Worst comes to worst I'll send it right back to them.

Thats how they come. It was ugly out of the box. I'll send you mine 50 bucks shipped. It's 2.5inch and it will require extension pipes added about 8-10 inches long

Yeah . . it was most definitely the crappy lighting in the room and my co-worker's over exaggeration that it "must have come off another car." I have it in my hands now and it looks a lot better than in the picture.

Doesn't the C300 need a 2.25inch? I am surprised you haven't sold your X-Pipe yet, especially for the dirt cheap pricing.

Anyway, I am keeping this one and having it installed tomorrow

You really might wanna look elsewhere into selling that. Try a different forum or post in the classifieds. A lot of people here know that the 2.5 inch inlets/outlets do not fit on the W204 and will not buy it knowing that they will have to go through the hassle of getting custom extensions fitted. Also, being that the 2.25" pipes have to expand into a larger 2.5" diameter and then contract back to the 2.25" pipes leading to the secondary cats would distort the airflow in that the air would become pocketed in the large pipes and then would have to go through a choke point into the secondary cats which can cause some trouble in the car's powerband. Also, I can only imagine how much raspier it would sound. I apologize if I may be a bit discouraging, but I'm just trying to save you, as well as your potential customers the hassle of having to go through such trouble.

To the OP: I'm not sure how they should look. I recall a thread where someone said theirs was rather new-looking and clean, in that it was still the silver/alloy color. You might want to check around the forums a bit more.

Secondary cats are before the resonator. When you get 2.25" pipes what the exhaust shop will do is expand each opening to fit over your stock exhaust. They will also have to add 8" extensions to match the total size of the resonator. The total difference is .25 inches or 1/8 of an inch on each side (12 and 6 oclock), which will be closer to the 2.5 inch diameter in the end when they dilate the openings. You would skip that step, so less hassle and trouble. I don't see how sound would be any different. I'd forsee a problem if the x-pipe was 2" since it would neck down, not the other way around. either way thanks the advice.
