Here in Australia, I the driver get fined $1000 for every passenger that does not wear a seat belt. Before I drive away I make sure nobody is without a belt.

I love the seatbelt chime. I never used to wear my seatbelt until owning this car.

Wow, this thread went everywhere but answer the simple question. I don't think we need to educate eachother about what a seatbelt is used for and/or what it does.
A simple question was asked, "Does anyone know how to disable a seatbelt warning chime?"
If you do, great, hook a fellow MB enthusiast up!
If not and you want to educate people of the importance, don't hijack the thread, go start a new thread under the right area and attemp to be Johnny perfect over there. Don't get me wrong, I love a little comedy in the forums, but this got out of hand!

I believe someone answered it saying it's not possible to disable it. Besides, this is a really old thread lol

But, if I remember right, my seat belt chime comes on after driving, and the chime frequency changes after a few minutes. Then it stops? Or has longer pause between the chimes..I don't remember exactly, will test tomorrow when I'm headed to work.

I'll save you the trouble: - it gets louder and more insistent! No choices - wear your seatbelt!

So I tested it today, and I was right. It stops after a minute. BUT, restarts the whole sequence once you come to a stop.

So this is how it works. It chimes and flashes after about 8 seconds after your car starts moving. As long as your car is moving, it will continue to chime with the slower chime. After 40 seconds of slow chiming, it will switch to the fast chime. The fast chime lasts approximately 20 seconds. AFTER that, it stops chiming and the seatbelt icon stops flashing.

IF you come to a complete stop, the whole thing starts over again.. so it can be very annoying with city driving. But on the highway, it'll only bother you for a minute. But who doesn't wear a seatbelt on the highway?!

I turned mine off as well, but always wear my seatbelt. Anyone who gets in my car is required to wear one as well..no exceptions

I know I'm coming into this conversation late, but this morning, my C230 seat belt alarm started going off after I get out of the car and lock the doors. It stops after a few minutes, but it's really annoying. Any idea what may be causing this. In addition, a couple of weeks ago, the car alarm would start going off at random times, even while I was driving down the highway.

You probably have an intermittent sensor in the seat belt buckle

Reviving an old dead thread

I've just ordered a seatbelt emulator that plugs into the wiring where the buckle goes into. Pull out the connector and plug in the emulator.
I'll report back when I get it.
