I don't know how to remove it (and forgive me if this it OT)... but does anyone know why the fender liner is a carpet-like material? I find that strange and often wondered what the purpose is (e.g. sound insulation from road noise?). I would think some smooth plastic-type material would be easier to wash and would not trap debris and moisture.

keep it on the reason why they're there for is to keep away water, rocks, dirt, dust in your engine bay and whatever is behind it.

Pull out the socket the pin was in. Put a screwdriver or your fingernails under the edges and pull. Then bend the liner as needed. You can't break it.

Please, no more lol if you don't mind.

The pin is like a flat ended plastic nail with a wide head. Pull this out. Then, wiggle out the socket that the pin was in. That will free up the liner.
