Bi-Xenon light problem

I was noticing the other night that my main driving lights (the Bi-Xenons) were aimed lower than I thought I recalled.

Then I noticed when I turn them on, the shutters don't do that flippy thing.

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

Out of warranty.

Try again.

This happened on my BMW before. Not that same car but if the problem is the same, there is an auto-leveling device on the bi-xenons that broke on my car which prevented the lights from going up. The dealer replaced the whole headlight assembly since it was under warranty. Hopefully you won't have to go to that extent.

albert,

Was it both of your headlights or just one of them? With mine, it's both of them.

If I were to speculate, I'd say that it does have something to do with either the auto leveling system or power to the shutters. I'm still trying to figure out if there is a seperate circuit for the shutters and if there is a seperate fuse for it.

Found some information on the W203s that may apply.

Since its both headlights, its very likely to be one of the two level sensors or even a wiring connection to them.

A better description of what's happening than what I posted in the first post is that both lowbeam Bi-Xenons are aiming low and do not move during the leveling cycle when started.

Does anyone have a link to the wiring diagram to the sensors and something showing their locations on the C300? If its as simple as a loose connection, I'd like to give that a try first before taking it in for service.

An update.

On the C-300, there is a leveling sensor at the front of the vehicle on the driver's side. If there is a rear one, I couldn't find it.

Found that a rubber strap connecting the sensor to some body part had become disconnected and was tucked into an odd position....one that its hard to believe happened on its own.

Reconnected this rubber piece and all is well.

Now I'm trying to find some information about aiming for the C-300 bi-xenons. They're probably pretty close to correct but would like to double check them. Anyone have a link for that?
