iPhone OS4 changes Bluetooth ringer
Bah! With the iPhone OS4 update, the ringer that is set on the phone passes thru to the Bluetooth system instead of using a generic ringing sound.
If the iPhone had some better built-in ringers I wouldn't mind so much. But it sounds really silly when I get an incoming call unless I use the "Old Phone" ringer.
The update did not address the address book syncing, unfortunately.
Anyone else notice any other differences since the update?

Oh good, I was going to made a thread about the new iphone and OS4. sorry to hijack.
I have the original iphone cable in the glovebox with the white tip but it has never been an issue because I have the 1gen iphone. However, with my new iphone 4 coming in on thursday, are we sure that the new cable with the black tip will work?
anybody know the part number, or a cheap way of getting the new cable?

And regarding the Scosche Passport - I have one and it works great! I would recommend it because it's inexpensive and compact.

white and whiter
it already does that with the 3.1.2 OS or 3.1.3.
I'm guessing you are not a jailbreak iphone kind of guy btw. I pretty much just use whatever I want for the ringtone.
I'll be getting the iphone 4 this wk. hopefully the jailbreak for iphone 4's OS4 comes soon.

Dang! I just noticed this too! Awful...just awful. I'll try a few remedies this weekend when i have some time to blow on this. I'm going to try to match my address book entries with the exact CID number that comes through and see if this is the issue. I think the CIDs are coming in different through bluetooth after the update. Just a guess...

Although it playing the ringtone (crappily) through the car's speakers... I do love another new feature... if you press and hold the iphone home button to activate voice control, it automatically switches your stereo to the bluetooth on the phone and listens for your commands and communicates with you through the car's speakers and microphone vs. the iPhone's.... awesome! Who needs an addressbook anymore when you can voice dial anyone on your iPhone through your Mercedes? Thank you Apple!
