Sunroof Noise?

After searching for anyone else with this issue or a fix for it, I came up empty handed. About 2 months ago (when the hot weather started to roll in) every time I would tilt my sunroof open. I would get some horrid noise that sounds like rubber rubbing with more rubber? Almost like a really loud rumble. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and if it si normal. Or if I should take it into MB and have it lubed up, or could it be something more major?

You're not the only one. Mine makes the same noise but I haven't had a chance to look at it or take it to the dealer to fix.

Its very likely that they just need to be lubed up. If it's dry rubber rubbing against dry rubber then it could flake and tear which would mean the rubber sealant needs to be replaced and that it going to be expensive. Use the A/C until you have time to take it in to the shop. Pretty sure they will just lubricate the rubber for you while you wait.

It appears to be unpleasant but normal since most hear the noise (including me) and it does occur when the roof is hot.

If there is a fix for this, we all want to hear about it.

There is a fix. Had the same problem, dealer took care of it during the A service which was last year, haven't had a problem since. The service sheet breakdown stated lubing the sunroof was performed.

I've had the sunroof lubricated three times but the noise still comes when the (pano) roof is hot... I hope nothing is going to break but willing to bet it's a design problem and not a maintenance problem.
