Sorry to hear you got ripped off...at least they are not crazy espensive like they used to be. Not to mention, if it was a year old or more, you can get a better one, cheaper and with updated maps...trying to look on the bright side...lol.
I guess I have been lucky enough never to have had anything taken but I always remove any high dollar item...if they want to take my CDs, note pads,GPS mount, etc I guess they can have it. I keep my sunglasses and GPS with me and hope for the best.

I hate to hear stories like this, but if it were me I would be calling my service advisor instead of posting about it on here. If this is truly the 2nd time something has been stolen, then the dealer really needs to look at their service/detail department. You should not have to take anything out of your car when you bring it for service.

I would do as recommended above. If you leave it alone, not only will your money spent on the GPS go to waste, but the thieves will continue to steal the belongings of other future customers. And that's a big no no.

While I do agree with you guys about reporting the theft, there is almost always a clause on your paperwork stating the dealer is not responsible for "lost" items.
Report it to help identify who is commiting the crime but I doubt you will get anything back.

First -- you left something valuable in your car?
Second -- I don't know about your dealership, but I've seen mine leave the cars unlocked outside... anyone can walk up to it and take something - doesn't even have to be someone working there.

The only thing you can do is take everything out. My dealership has a bad that a woman comes and gives to you for you to put your stuff in. I take everything out. Even my quarters that I use for the meter. Better to take everything out that accuse people of taking stuff that you can't prove.

Wow, that's crazy, file a police report and let your SA know. They know exactly who goes in your car.
I dropped my car off for service once and left a bunch of assorted coins in the cup holder. When I got back someone sat in my car and literally picked EVERY SINGLE quarter out of the cup holder... They didn't even take pennies, nickels and dimes, and I know for a fact that I had a bunch of quarters in there. I reported it, not because of the monetary value, but just because of the fact of the matter. They narrowed it down to two individuals, one of which suspected for doing other things people complained about that day. Needless to say he was fired and I was given a free wax and detail to remove swirls.
Hopefully they will do the same for your and replace your stuff, if not file a police report... I have since not gone back to the same dealership anyway, and use a new one, never had any issues to date, and even tried to "set them up" a few times... haha.

Seems to me that everyone is trying to "steal" money from someone (if I follow your reasoning) and you are just as guilty (assuming you have a job and didn't just happen to walk up on a pile of cash) as those you are referring to.

And don't be so naive. Empty the car out when it goes into the shop. Unless it's a fix-while-you-wait job.

*******s at Beshoff sold my Ipod that was locked in the glove compartment! I made those MF'ers pay for a new one! They tried to give the run around "like you are not to leave anything of value in the car".All I had to say was "so I can't trust my Mercedes Benz dealership"? A week later a Had a check in my hand for a new Ipod! end of story!!
