Seat Belt Edges Fraying

I have noticed that the edges of my drivers seatbelt are fraying a bit. I have had a lot of cars in the past and have never seen anything at all like this. Is this normal or maybe a sign of a "bad weave" or something? If it is normal I will just shave them off carefully with a razor and not worry about it. If not, guess it's time to see the dealer again.

Living in Atlanta, I almost never wear a jacket, or anything with a zipper, rough surface, etc. I will be sure to bring it up next time I am in for service.

You can try dealer, but they'll probably attribute it to a wear and tear item.

Mine are fraying slightly...when they get worse, swapping them out for high quality white belts to better match my interior

Take a small butane torch (like the ones used to brown creme brulee) and hold it at a distance of a few inches from the fray - it will melt the small strands and prevent them from fraying further. A lighter will work as well, but is more difficult to work with.

step 2: prepare bucket of water when doing step 1
step 3: when fire rages out of control, abandon step 2 and run
