Exactly! Personally, I think that "appliance" drivers are missing out on one of life's pleasures. But I understand that it's not everyone's cup of tea, and that's ok.

One of my neighbors has a beautifully manicured garden in front of her house. She easily spends 6-10 hours working on that garden every weekend and the amount of care she puts into it really shows. Is it my thing? No. But I can appreciate the fact that she's passionate about something and puts a lot of effort into it.

The difference is that one hobby is socially acceptable and the other isn't. Neighbors and passers by will compliment her on a good job. When I'm detailing my car, I get blank stares and random "my car's next!" comments.

I take good care of my car because I like to. And if that's not good enough for someone else, that's their problem. I'm going to keep doing whatever I want; knowing that there are other fanatics out there like me is only icing on the cake!

Every time I look at those stampings I think to myself I have enough CF laminate left to make inserts, then I wake up.

D-70s is a great camera just very heavy for extended use. The 60 even though the motors are in the lens instead of the body is also a good camera. I'm a Nikon guy since the 70's (I did say I was old).

Daily (read only) driver. I have always loved and moded cars, I've had my license for 33 years and I have done at least minor mods to every car I've owned but one. I didn't own my 911 long enough before it was stolen (2 weeks).

Wheels off, yes, and cleaned and machine polished then waxed. The rotors and brake parts are cleaned and the entire wheel house cleaned as well as underside of the car. It is white and I like to see it white. The entire exhaust is jet hot coated and wiped clean. The engine bay gets the same treatment when the car is washed and waxed. So, Ron, welcome to Benz ownership. And BTW I am 55 and love a clean and modded ride.

Haha, it's a car guy thing, but I don't see nothing wrong with it. If this is your worst crime as a neighbor (cleaning & taking care of your car), then your neighbor needs to get a life & tell him he should be happy that someone next to him has a Mercedes & not a junker or hooptie...lol

Black cars are not my thing, but with that shine you have going on, it is NICE!

Your neighboor sounds like quite the douche bag for sure. Don't sweat it, you're the normal one. I wax my wheels too. He's...well...not worth the air he's breathing.

I seal my wheels with a synthetic sealent called Rejex- great stuff. It's important not to use regular carnuba wax on your wheels because it cannot stand up to the heat the wheels are subject to.

Also, I've just tried out another product that the BMW guys are using, it's by Armor All called Wheel Protectant. It's supposed to actually keep brake dust from sticking to your rims. Usually I'm skeptical with AA products but after 150 miles or so, my AMG wheels are still perfectly clean. I'll hold off on giving it a full recommendation until after it rains, and a couple of uses.

I don't know how Armor All got to have such a bad rap for? I use their car wash detergent and find that it works GREAT! No if it is doing damage to my paint job I don't know, but heck, thats what a lease is for right?

By the way, do you torque the tire lug nuts to 80 ft lbs.?

Ron...take the next step and take the wheels off and wash/polish the inside barrel. That will definitely give your neighbor a chuckle...my neighbors are used to it already with me.

Actually, I believe that the spec calls for 96 ft/lbs, but I set my torque wrench to 100 just to be safe.

Me Too

I'm 40. I wax my wheels, door, hood and trunk jambs, polish my exhaust tips and scrub my wheel wells. Your car looks fantastic! Keep up the good work. Your neighbors camry will look like total **** after a few more free car washes with his fill ups . I was actually planning to spend the day cleaning/waxing my car today, but I was rear-ended on the highway on the way home from Cape Cod yesterday and now it will be heading to the body shop this week.

Hey I just got this AA Wheel Protectant last Sunday and with about 100 miles of highway use it's not that bad though I was actually expecting nothing on my wheels perhaps my expectation was too high ??

It was fairly expensive at about $9 a can and it left a slight haze to the wheel after applying it. I normally have a fair amount of brake dust and tire shine sling on my wheels after this amount of miles but it was reduced I would say about 50% less than normal

Yeah, don't take this the wrong way but you do "appear" to look about my dads age. (I'm 30) I had to loose the black wheels a while ago man...along with the 3 10"'s in the trunk and the mod stickers on the fenders.

Who cares what others think but I was actually starting to think I was getting a little old. Couldn't take myself seriously. Would get tons of compliments and then they would ask my age...It was starting to get embarrassing. More power to you though!!!!

btw, anyone want a set of black 18" brabus mono's? still have about 90% tread left...nankang NSII's. Got 5 (one is a bit scuffed, good spare). I just couldn't drive down the street with the 18 year old's pointing and telling me how dope the ride was. Now I have 40 year old's stopping me at lights and saying it...that i can live with.

EURO 63 RS's are the best way to go on this car...I'm convinced. Had trouble justifying the purchase because I already had the 18" AMG's from the factory and the brabus mono's...but it turned out to be the best unnecessary $3,000 I ever spent.

Great car tho Ron....shinny as hell! Pride is a beautiful thing.
