2010 C300 Nav question

I have a stupid question for everyone. Just picked up my 2010 C300 a few weeks ago. I got the multimedia package. My salesguy said that my maps would be automatically updated through satelite, but I see lots of people talking about map discs. I know it's hard drive based, and my car didn't come with a DVD. Should it have? How does this thing really update? Thanks.

Hate to inform you that your sales guy was completely wrong. Maps are not updated wirelessly; you'll need to buy update DVDs periodically if you want to get the most recent maps and points of interest. The contents of the update DVDs are installed to the COMAND hard drive and you no longer need the DVD after installation. The car already comes with the most recent maps at the time of production on the hard drive, so there's no need to include a separate DVD.

You dont have to buy the disc. You just call your dealer, ask if there are updates, if so just book your car in and they will download the new disc maps.

On what planet does this happen? It takes almost two hours to load the new 2010 data which I have done. The dealer price for the disc is $249 and it's hard to see them doing it for free.
