comand and ipod

been reading all this ipod threads and got confussed..

if i have comand with the 7" lcd and navi does this means i also can connect my ipod/iphone?

or having comand doesnt mean you have ipod as well?

It's a little confusing since there are multiple ways of doing it. I can only speak for the US market, but we have two options:

For MY 08-09, there was an optional AUX iPod connection kit. It uses the car's AUX input to play audio and allows you to control the iPod via the display on the car's instrument panel LCD. You cannot control the iPod or view song/playlist info via COMAND .

From MY10 and up, there's an optional media interface option (not to be confused with UMI, which is for cars without COMAND). This uses the car's MOST bus and gives you full control over the iPod via the COMAND interface.

If you didn't opt for either of these from the factory, they can be retrofit. I'd definitely recommend going the media interface route.
