I have the new ones and they work well. I do wish they fit the socket a bit tighter like a regular W5W bulb. I had to squish my internal socket connections together with a flat blade screwdriver so the bulb would fit snugly.

Is there a way to upgrade the bulb in the side view mirrors that shines on the ground when you unlock the car? Mine are pretty dim, and would love to make them brighter.

I have no idea, I've only owned my car for a few weeks. It's a light bulb, so it has to be a serviceable item as they don't last forever, especially since it's not an LED, so I'd imagine that you can swap them fairly painlessly.
I believe the side mirror bulbs are 194 wedge bulbs. Have to disassemble the hole housing assembly to get access to it though. I think I recall a DIY someone posted a long time ago here.

Will those new bulbs prevent flickering and last longer? I'm debating in going back to the stock bulbs to prevent future frustration with these canbus LEDs.
