How to open 104659_SENSOR.DAT

I have the multimedia package on my 2009 C300. I going into the engineering menu (hangup+1+#) i got to the history menu where there was an option to copy the log files. It directly stored/created a file on my SD card with the file name 104659_SENSOR.DAT. Does anyone know how to open this file and decode the information? Again, I'm just curious to know more information on the data provided on this.

meaning what? Notepad didn't open or you couldn't read what is in the file? If it is a binary file, then notepad won't help. You can get a hex editor to look into the file, but unless you know what you're looking for, I doubt you'll have much luck.

P.S., if you attach the file, I can try to open it, but if there is personal info in the file, that may not be a good idea.

Usually .dat files can only be opened by the program that created them. Occasionally a text editor. such as Notepad can open them, but you already tried that. Perhaps you could try a more advanced text editor such as http://notepad-plus-plus.org/. One other long shot you could try is to copy the file and rename the extension to a known format such as .doc and see if you can see anything in Word, but that is a really long shot.

Notepad will open anything regardless of extension. It just won't show anything interesting if it is a binary file.

This program will allow you to view/edit any file, binary or text, etc.
