Grille colour suggestions?

Hi all!

I have a tenorite grey / steel grey colour C-class. I want to colour the OEM grille. But can't make up my mind whether to paint it BLACK or STEEL GREY and leaving the chrome part untouch.

Should you guys have any suggestions or photos to share for comparison, it would help me make up my mind alot easier!

I'd go with black. I've seen it painted to match the car and it was just tooo much. See the pic in my sig. I got a black grill off EBay and removed all the chrome strips...leaving the star in chrome.

I have the same color car and was thinking of doing the grill in tenorite gray and all the chrome pieces in flat black or wrapped in 3M Di-noc carbon fibre vinyl.

I liked the basic look of the stock grill but always felt the big, oversized star just didn't quite look right. I think it is because the star itself is backed with black while the chrome stips on the grill louvers are backed in silver. It visually makes the big a$$ star even more prominent...too prominent for my taste.
Anyhow, painting the louvers black balances the look of the chrome star with the chrome strips on the louvers and drastically improves the look...IMHO.

Thanks guys! C300Sport's justification hit the right note. I think it should be black to balance the black mesh behind the chrome star and leave the chrome parts as they are. Although hi like the idea of having 'em all in black / CF style, but from my point of view, the chromes compliments the headlights.

Got my grille painted in black while leaving the chrome part untouch. It looks good! making the benz star looks bigger! would recommend it to those who owns the same coloured w204!

If you do it yourself, you will need a paint scuffing pad and the paint...maybe about $15 and a few hours of work. If you have patience, it is a good DIY project.
Mike recommended the VHT Matte Black trim, hood and bumper paint and it works perfectly.
For me the hardest part by far was snapping the chrome strips off without losing my patience and breaking them off...
There are a couple good DIY threads on here so take a look and see if you want to try it out...it is my favorite mod so far.
