The facelifted C Class
My subscription issue of Auto motor und Sport from Stuttgart arrived today with a picture article showing some soon to arrive new models including the C-Class.
The spy photos we have seen which show the reshaped headlight assemblies and the oh-so-exciting LED light strips are in fact the real thing. It looks like this will be a 2012 model introduced way early. A photo of the C Coupe matches the ones seen here some months ago. The coupe looks like a shortened sedan with nothing different from a front 3/4 view, at least. It will be introduced at the Geneva AutoSalon in March 2011.
Probably the most important thing is a quote "completely new 3.5 DI V-6 producing 306hp with about 20% less fuel consumption."
The most interesting info is a ghost photo of the 2014 C-Coupe showing the plug-in hybrid drivetrain. It consists of a V-6 engine with a 100kW electric "module" ahead of the seven speed auto. The lithium-ion battery pack is located where the fuel tanks are presently, ahead of the rear axle, and the fuel tank is moved to behind the rear seats which seems to eliminate the folding seats. They are claiming a fuel consumption of 3 liters per 100km. Hmmmm.
The ghost view of the coupe body is very bob-tailed and the grille is well out front as the spy-drawings have shown.
The new CLS is also shown along with a new BMW 3 Coupe and wagon and a new model called the BMW Gran Coupe which is the top model.

That's definitely just a photoshopped pic. The lines of the front bumper are exactly like that of the current 3 series...as are the headlights. They just added the C-class grill and DRLs

Thats not the 3 series bumper..If you look closely at the spy pics you'll see the 2012 C has similar lines to the 3. I actually think this chop is pretty close to the real thing and I like it. It may not be quite as elegant, but it's definitely a bit sportier.

fugly ..
but i do see the resemblance with the current c, the poo colored one has the same headlight but with the inner corner trimmed to make it more aggressive ...
and the bumper now looks like a wannabe BMW :/
that is the second disapointment from MB IMO after the w212

If it ends up looking like that with those UGLY headlights, then I am going to need to look elsewhere for my next car.
