More significant is the 20mm wider tire, + more offset, means likely rub on the inside of tire.

measuring oem offset tells you nothing about how much more the wheel arch is able to handle. Originally Posted by kevink2

just use the offset calculator instead of doing guess work.
OEM 18" dual spoke they are 18x8 and 18x8.5 with 50/54 offset, so what you are saying can't be applied to all wheels.
the C63 wheels are 18x8 and 18x9 and they're 46/54...the rear tire is half inche wider plus the tires are 255 vs 245 on the oem 18" sport. the extra width does not cause any rubbing.
Thanks Frank - Our car is not staggered (Elegance).
You know more about wheels on these forums than anybody I know. If the offset difference is 50/54 then placing 2 rear wheels up front to de-stagger like splinter has done on his C32 would increase scrub radius.

the extra half inch adds about 10mm to the inner, but only extend 2mm out. (18x8 vs 18x8.5 50/54 setup on oem 18").
i just confused myself trying to calculate where the center of the contact patch will land. I think you would actually lose scrub radius.....????? if you de-stagger which runs 245/35/18 all around. on the 18x8.5 et54 setup the center point is 122mm ish from the edge of the tire. with 225/40/18 on the 18x8 et50 your center point is 112mm ish, so say if you makes the outer edge line up by adding 2mm to match the 8.5width...on the 8" width you are still only 114mm ish to the center of the 225 tires. Now compare it to the 122mm from the 8.5" on 245 tires....doesn't that make the scrub radius less??
if the tire stays the same size...then you probably would have slightly more scrub radius.
i dunno...i just confused the crap out of myself....however the scrub radius has zero to do with if the de-stagger setup will rub.

Yeah - scrub radius by definition is measured at the centre line of the wheel. Makes no difference to the clearance. Only tramlining effect.

That's interesting. I am taking it in next week for its Service B and i am gonna have them look at that. i hope its not lowered.
Thanks for all your info. I appreciate it.
