Hit and run in a parking lot
It's going to cost you your deductible but your uninsured motorist coverage may help out there.
As for some unasked for advice, if you are going to be driving a new MB, you are going to have to learn how to pick a safe parking spot. Yes, it can be done.
New Bumper $300
New Lower Grille $100
Paint (with blending into hood/fenders) $400
Roughly $800...on the plus side, you can ask for the body shop to not drill holes into the new bumper for the license plate.

But, I often have to sacrifice my paranoia about the car for paranoia about my safety...and I relent and park as close as possible ...and just remember a car is a car. Not saying that's applicable to you. Just rambling....I don't know if you're male or female.
:::hugs:::
I have had bumber work done twice, first time was a paint job (looked perfect when it came back) Second time was after some person backed into me and pushed the left headlight in. Bumber had minor marks and it didnt seem like a major issue but after MB looked at it it was over $2500 of damage. Keep in mind they had to replace the xenon headlight which was like almost 50% of the repair bill.
I am a careful person when it comes to parking but sh*t happens, can't control other drivers and thats why we have insurance.
I try to report hit and run drivers when I can.
Someone witnessed a hit and run to my car at a parking lot and stayed around for a short while afterwards until I just happened to return to my car. I greatly appreciated their effort and will do the same to others. These people shouldn't even be allowed to drive.
I did notice the top of the passenger headlight has a bigger gap than the driver side though.
@ RLE: I've been wondering the same thing about the license plate too.
@ TheDarkSide: I dont think it'll be possible to not drill the holes on the new bumper because it's required by CA law that we have front plates.
@Royce118: Do you think he backed into my car instead of hitting it head on?
@HistoryGirl: I'm just about as paranoid as u are, but i guess it was meant to be me. Although it is just a car, it's my first MB and that i worked so hard for!
@Spec_Davis: I sure hope it is. haha
@aowhaus: Wow, you were lucky those people stuck around! Too bad i wasn't as lucky as you were.
@jon3sh: Although i would like to park away from cars, but it was a parking lot, there's bound to be cars.
Sorry, people, i dont know how to use the quote option or i still cannot use it yet, so i'm replying the lame way.

others dont really care about other cars like when they open doors etc.
Call and talk to your agent/insurer and ask them to outline your options for you (you need not file the claim if you decide not to after talking to them)...
Also, depending on your insurer and the type of coverage you have, (as RLE has already suggested) you may not even have to pay a deductible...

Lastly, and I am not sure how long ago this happened or whether this will do you any good at this point in time, but if it were me, I would have contacted Mall Security, asked them to take a report, inquired as to whether they have any security cameras with which they monitor their parking lots (you could have seen whodunnit and gotten a plate number...). I would have even called the police, reported a hit and run and requested they make a report as well... That would have made that call to your insurer much easier to make.
Hope it all works out in the end.
I don't know about CA, but non-emergency calls take a **** ton of time for the 5-0 to respond around me... Waited more than one hour for a cop to come and file an accident report for a small rear end scrape on I95 N. Ultimately, I ended up stopping by the area precinct and picking up a civilian version of the report.
I never filled it out because I didn't want the accident history when I sold the car.
