Service B sounds like a rip off. Any Help?

I took my car in for service and he told me it cost around $500. So I said whatever I'll just get it over with. When I spoke to my SA a couple hours later, he told me I had to replace my brakes in the front and back. That included the brake pads, brake rotors, and brake fluid. He quoted me at $1800 for all of that. Seems a bit high to pay that much for brakes. For that price, could I be looking to upgrade the brakes?

Is there another way I can go without paying that much?
I only have 19,110 miles on the car.

You only have 19K miles and they're telling you to replace your brake pads AND rotors!? Unless you're a REAL aggressive driver I'd say they are trying to rip you off. Under normal driving conditions there is NO way you need to replace pads AND rotors.

Side question: Does it void the warranty or can you be penalized under your lease if you don't go to a MB dealer to get the service done (e.g. go to jiffy lube for an oil change instead.)

I am an aggressive driver and on top of that I live in the city so a lot of traffic and lights.

Yea everything here is a rip off. I hate dealing with them. Might as well start doing it elsewhere.

they didn't. I had to take the car in for service b. Then my SA called me and told me they have to be changed. I told him not to touch them because I want to see if I can get better brakes for that price or if I can buy the brakes and everything I need and take it to a local mechanic.

I have emailed my SA at MB Laguna Niguel several times and I cant even get him or the "Service BDC Supervisor" to quote me on a B3 service. They have made an appointment for me to come in, but ignore my request for quote.

SA's make commissions on the services they sell you. I was just told that by a long time Mercedes-Benz/AMG owner. I was pissed that he was paying less than me for the same services. I hate dealerships.

I hate them too. They always try to find a way to steal money from people. No wonder we have a reminder on the car. It's a reminder to us that they need to take money to look at the car and tell you whats wrong but not fix it.

RIP OFF!!! This is the moment when I would think of BMW free mainteance. Even people say the cost of the BMW free mainteance has been included in the MSRP, it is still better ( or cheaper) than MB's service. Maybe I would trade in for a M3 or 5 series if i have to face the same situtaion as you in 2 years. I just hate the dealership when they are trying to rip you off like you are all idiots.

Just had service B performed at 45,000 miles (it was a little past due). I had a coupon for $275.00. But I did need the transmission fluid change which was another $300.00.

I still have 50% of my brakes left with 45,000 miles on the car. I was glad to hear that.

My dealership probably won't even except coupons. They are stingy with their money. They claim they sell so many cars there is nothing in their inventory. *****s, won't fix **** for free.

ive come to realize that the services are bull****. i paid $600 for service b in february (dont ask, im an idiot and not doing that again) and its really just an oil change with a lot of checks. most dealerships give u a 27 point inspection for free when u do an oil change or bring ur car in for any work done and its pretty much the same inspection included in the a/b service. i am thinking that from now on i should jus go there to change my oil and check everything out myself but i jus have to figure out how i will reset the fss counter on my dash.

u are correct100%! just go to a mb indy that has a great rep and get oil changes. they always inspect everything for free and tell u when something needs fixed. all of their services are 25-50% less than dealerships... i would go to dealer for trns service though but thats it!

It says here that a road test is required but the miles in are the same as the miles out. Can I do something about this?
