Going rate at Dealership for Front Brakes

I'm at 43k miles. Going to replace rotors, pads and sensors in the front. What is everybody paying at the dealer for this these days? Thanks

There is the actual cost, and then the dealership, or stealership cost. I wouldn't be surprised if they charge you upwards of $400 to get this done. The parts should only cost around $150, even at decent prices online (can probably be had for cheaper). If you have a jack and some knowledge of cars, I believe there are some pretty good DIY for changing the brakes on this forum. The job is very easy on our cars. Call your dealership for pricing. You have to figure it isn't cheap becuase labor rates are upwards of $100/hr at dealers, so if parts costs near 200 (at dealer msrp, then $300 should be "fair") I would say anything around $250 is a bargain at the dealers.

With brand new rotors and EBC pads, I still didn't pay $200 for all of the parts. If you have ANY, and I mean ANY common mechanical knowledge, don't be afraid to do this job yourself. I consider myself a skilled mechanic and can do this job in under 30 minutes per side from wheel up to wheel down. My local dealership wanted over 5 bills for the fronts and that was with a coupon! There are only two bolts that hold the caliper and two for the caliper bracket. If there isn't a DIY on this already, I'll make one my next time around. If you don't do it yourself, PLEASE don't feel that you need to bring it to the dealer to have the work done there as it is a comparatively simple task.

kevsc350 is right, you can get OE rotors, pads & sensors for $200 from sources like parts.com or other similar places..
if you don't think you can do the job yourself, get a indie mb shop or good mechanic to do the job for you..$100-$140 should cover the labor and whatever small parts cost..

If your brake pads are ok and you didnt get the replace message you can use your old sensors. I replaced my front pads and used my old sensor. There was only one on the front and one on the rear. Dont know if us have 4 sensors?

I did mine and it was a piece of cake. Bought the pads from the dealer. I want to say it was around 120.00. The kit came with the pads, sensor, guides and new bolts with loktite already applied. Took less than an hour and that includes getting all the tools, jack and jack stands from the garage of doooooooom.

You should replace the sensors each time. If you order ceramic pads like Akebono they will typically come with new sensors.

If your not comfortable in DIY... just bring the parts to reputable indie shop that specializes in German cars

Here's a link from Amazon for the Akebono brake pads 1340/ 1341

I took the advice of checking on Parts.com. The Rotors for my C300 are $46.00ea. Sounds like a great price but are they OEM? The 2008 C300 sport has slotted rotors and I want to make sure they are the same. It is my understanding the Parts.com assists dealers in selling parts, just want to see who knows if the parts will be OEM.

The stealership wanted something like $200/set for these rotors.

<<<<<<<<<<<< EDIT >>>>>>>>>>>

ANSWER: All mercedes benz parts are OEM from Parts.com

I had contacted them through e-mail and got a direct response.

Just wanted to update you guys that I got the rotors from Parts.com. They are genuine OEM drilled rotors. Paid less than $100 and they were shipped from a MB dealer. Couldn't go wrong with these!!

Now I am off to put the new rotors and Akebono pads on! I will let you know how it goes.

Unfortunately, I could not get the rotors off. I have had several helpful suggestions in my other thread, Get the front rotors OFF'

I have opted to have my MB tech do the work on the side for around $100.
So, here is my Front Brake cost summary:
08' C300 OEM Drilled Rotors: $107.80 (includes shipping cost)
Ordered from Parts.com

Akebono EUR1340 EURO Ultra-Premium Ceramic Front Brake Pad Set: $78.51 (Free Shipping)
Ordered from Amazon.com

Total parts cost: $186.31
Install cost: $100
Grand Total: $286.31
