Any way to tell a 3.0 vs a 3.5L motor?

remember when there were engines that stalled when driven into a flood? mb warranty does not cover that and its on your insurance company to replace it.

I've looked through lots of photos, and it seems that there is no visible difference between the two motors. I didn't expect there to be considering the .5L displacement difference is all internally achieved anyway. The motors are both the same physical outside size as well, so engine bay spacing is the same for either one.
I guess the true test would be to send out my ECU for a flash and see what they find out, if anything.
I'll just enjoy that my car has some get up to it. But if anyone has any leads to proper motor ID'ing, I'm all ears

EDIT:
Well- I'm glad I didn't stop my search. Seems that you'll find a part number located on the motor where the trans mounts to the back of the motor. If you're looking up at the motor it'll be stamped directly underneath. How valid this is, I'm not sure. But here's a picture for proof. This is a 3.0L motor. I wonder what the 3.5s might be.
This picture is from a junk yard shot, and I"m not sure how true the number is, but it's definitely on other parts of the engine in other shots as well. This is a good starting point if anything. They identified this motor as part # 272947. Maybe 3.0L motors have a 272 prefix.

I can't find anything on the 3.5 from the seller and I don't have the ability to get under my car right now lol
It's a good start though!

Nah you wont. The ECU's in these cars are pretty adaptive as is. There are both V6's so those things don't matter
