well i moved to korea cause of school and wondering if i should bring my car from the states. of course it will be costly but i love my car.... the thing thats holding me back is the new facelift.... it ill feel bit ehh driving next to a c coupe or the 2012 c classes
hmmmm should i just buy a new car here which would cost double then you would buy in the states because of tax or bring my c350 09 and drive it for like another 4-5 years if it will last

how long are you guys planning to keep your cars?

I kept my 3 series for 13 years! Clearly, I am not a slave to fashion.

I kept my E46 330i for 9 years, so I'll keep the C300 for a while assuming its somewhat reliable.

I seem to average 5 years, although with this one I plan on changing that -- I fully plan on keeping it until it doesn't go (or the repair bills get truly astronomical), but I'm looking forward to receiving a few high mileage awards - at minimum the 125k mile one, and hopefully the 250k mile one.

50k down so far...

- Eric

Well, when I get the new GLK - I plan on keeping it full term (the length of the loan or until I can afford a new AMG CLS... ;o)~

So you'd feel 'ehh' about driving your car next to a facelift version? Why??

2 more years, so 3 in total. Then, either the w205, E550, or 535xi. Torn between the latter two, but the wife has the final say in these matters since she is the primary driver.

I'll keep this until I replace it with something like an all electric S class is 2020. I'm in the habit of buying stuff outright and just holding onto it.. though I'm getting rid of the wive's BMW for an SLK, the sooner the better. She called me last night because her tire was pretty much flat thanks to a hole in it.. pulled out her spare tire and it had lost all its air too. Every week there's something on that piece of **** that is falling apart and it's only a 2006.

After reading that, I am now rethinking the BMW switch....

i just traded my glk for a c class in november. it was a great vehicle for small family like mine. i had that one for about a year and a half. switched to a c because of this forum and all the mods there are for it.

Very long time, I feel like this the e46 of mercedes. It's the first sporty c class IMO. The styling and quality of the car is amazing and I plan to mod this thing into the ground.

I'm going to say that I am going to keep my car until it starts needing repairs (probably around 100,000 miles which is about 10 years). But considering I only kept my first car for 24 months, you never know.

It certainly doesn't help that all of the car manufacturers are seriously stepping their "game" up and coming out with great cars. I am starting to take a second and third look at going back to gm (chevy mainly) and ford, but more likely, a hyundai or kia.

What would I do if I were in your situation. Sell your C-class while the resale value isn't in the toilets because the 2012 refresh isn't out yet. Then buy a used car in korea so you don't have to pay exuberant importation fees and taxes. Then sell that car when/if you move back to U.S.A. and you will have saved yourself a pretty penny and will be able to purchase the new model 2016 or 2017 when it comes out.

I would keep it till the engine or transmission fail So far 73k miles in 2 year. My friends with their BMW Audi, Lexus all say MB will break down faster than their car. I'm just trying to prove it to their face that MB is pretty dam reliable.
