Need some help with a "warning" message

I have a 2009 C300 4matic and within the last week I've been getting the "Check Right Tail Lamp and Brake Light" message. The right tail lamp, turn signal and brake lamps all work fine. Pressing the OK button on the steering wheel only clears this message while the car continues to run. Once you shut it off and restart the car the message reappears. Is there a way for me to clear this warning message out of the computer so that It isn't reappearing every time I start the car??

I don't know but I wonder if the MB diagnostics are sensitive enough to pick up a change in bulb element resistance for a bulb that is still working but "out of spec" and beginning to fail (i.e. kind of like "predictive" failure).

Hi

Remove from Socket and clean all contact and re-install …. or replace Lamps to check.

Do you have the LED brake lamps?

Also, are you sure that every bulb is working on the car. Maybe there are 2 brake lights. Compare the left and right brake patterns to make sure they match.

If you do have the LED package, it could be that you only have a couple of individual LED that have gone bad and it is throwing an error code.

You may have a defective wiring harness. This is a known problem that can be easily fixed by your dealer.

Good luck i see this thread. Recently i had the same problem. My car was running and i saw my rear lights where flickering. So i looked at it and the connector was burned. i'm glad its a known problem. Im out of MB warranty but i have a dealer extended warranty so i hope they cover it.

Thanks Earlybird for the link!!

I just installed LED tails on my car and I get the same error message to "Check Tail/Brake lights". All light bulb and LEDs work perfectly. Any suggestions? I saw someone post something about a resister, but what type and where would it be installed/Soldered>?

If you have them replaced with oem led tail lights, you dont need any resistor. If you have aftermarket tail, than i dont know.

Thats why i keep away from that kind of aftermaket stuff.

If you have oem, check the connectors, and try to start your car again, so the canbus re-check them.
