C63 Steering Wheel on W204-C200K
Finally.......my car paddle shift is working now, thanks to the team (Heng & Boon) from Auto Spritze Singapore for their great work, I strongly recommend this company to all in MB World who has special requirements on MB Cars, thanks and also special thanks to RSSID for his information sharing in order me to get to know Auto Spritze.
i am also quite interested on this topic,as i am driving a China made C300 with 7G and would like to switch to the C 63 steering wheel, willing to activate the paddle shifter as well. so how does the Auto Spritze team help when the car in China?
I don't think you should modify or change anything, I believe 7g gearbox native support paddle shift, just to buy a c63 steering wheel then replace the old one.
thanks but i am a bit doubt about this since one C260 with 7G in the same city of mine, it was fail to do so.
Dear all, I write from Hong Kong and I have a w204 C280 Estate with AMG package. I am interest in changing the steering wheel to a C63 one. My present steering wheel have the paddle shift already.
Do it simply buy a c63 steering wheel for plug and play?
Do any bother got experience to buy the c63 steering wheel in ebay?
Many thanks
Mo

hey guys I've came across this ebay seller while doing my research on changing the steering wheel, this seller has got a variety of steering wheels with the option to purchase the steering wheel and air bag separately or having it ordered together, thought everyone would be interested

I believe your car is already designed to be compatible with a paddle shifter so I think it should work with yours without any mod, I'm not too sure though

wow, $3600 USD for a steering wheel... I'll sell you my brand new 2011 C63 AMG wheel for $3500. and take your old one.
I have to say, the steering wheel is nice, with bulges at 10 and 2 oclock. and the flat bottom section. but if you just want paddle shifters, I'll bet you can get a C350 Sport wheel with paddle shifters for a lot less money (AMG parts are like double their non AMG counterparts). i don't use the paddles much. if you have a sport mode, the car will shift faster than you anyways.
but really, i think you can supercharge your car for that price (wheel plus control module, install, etc) and get some performance!

momowing - that ebay seller has good ratings. you'll probably be safe. i see they have the standard leather C63 wheel, the alcantara one, and the 2012 one!
note this in the listing:
Please note that if your are planning to put this wheel into a non-AMG vehicle the paddles shifters might not work right away. They can however be programmed to work on cars equipped with the smaller black shifters. For more info please contact your local MB-technician.
or, since you are a Momo fan, you could get the Momo wheel for $157 USD.

I hear that AMG partners with Momo in making AMG steering wheels. notice the resemblance.
and forget the airbag - $100 racing harness works better!

Has anyone confirmed that the paddle shifter for a c300 sports will simply get the dealer to activated? If not what kind of work is needed?

It can be done without the dealer!
For a 2010 C300 4-matic sport, you will need to change the variant code in the "VGSNAG2", which in my case I changed it from "Y1TI" to "Y207" and bingo, everything will work (you will need to remove and re-insert the key first)...
If anyone does attempt to use this info, please be careful and only use the "Y207" code if your original one is "Y1TI", if yours is different then you will need another code... Anyway I hope this helps someone out there. I had to spend many hours looking at HEX decoding the variants (over a hundred!) and then trying, testing and eliminating invalid codes until I found the correct code. In the end there were only a handful of codes that actual fit this cars variant and only one that actually worked without any issues or errors after test drives
Anyway, just wanted to share my info with you guys and to let you know the dealer is not needed, only a good star diag unit with developer access
Oh and if you need to find your own code, you can use Vediamo (hard to find but is out there, google it) which will show you every variant and the HEX (code string) for the VGSNAG2, that you can then use to search for compatible codes like I did. When searching pay attention to the value at bit 29, which must be "006" (this is the manual mode) and then look for any codes that fit this and are similar to your original code (should only be about 6 bits that are different) also pay attention to first 12 bits as they should be the same or really close to your original code... Once you think you have a correct code, code it, remove the key and re-insert it in the ignition and then test all modules for any errors, then confirm the paddle buttons can be seen (use "actual values" from VGSNAG2 in DAS/Xentry to confirm) being activated and that the display shows the C,S and M mode (M mode will show gears 1-7). If all those tests are good then go for a short test drive (around the block is enough) then recheck for any errors or issues, if none are found then you have found your key! Anyway this is not for the average person to do, but may be useful to a few of us out there
