Magnetic Engine Block Heater
I've been thinking about buying a block heater for my C lately. I came across a magnetic mount heater that can be placed anywhere. Do any of you guys have experience with this type of heater? Best Regards,

Perhaps it is different at your place but our W204 has a "block heater" in a coolant hose because the engine block does not have a suitable hole for the heater element. This is still a lot more efficient than those heaters that are attached outside of the engine.

Why don't you call MBUSA and ask what's available in their parts database?
I'm surprised that there isn't a removable plug in the side of the block considering that these cars are sold worldwide.
Back in my diesel days, the block heater was no cost equipment and all you had to buy was the power cord for a few bucks. I used it a lot since that car was outside all the time.

For some reason the factory block heater has only been available to the US and Canadian markets as far as I know. I assume it is quite a low wattage heater compared to those block heaters typically used in Northern Europe.

Duh. That makes sense about the aluminum parts. I can't believe I didn't realize that
