Yeah, haha. I don't think that 59 in a 45 is too serious. Chances are when there is a 45 mph speed limit, it really should be like 55, unless a school area is around. I try not to go more than 10 mph over around the suburbs, and 15mph over on the highways.
I got a ticket in my g37 coupe for a 78 in a 55 (I was being stupid, it was my first car) and I was going much faster (probably like 84). It was 3 points for being over 20+mph over the speed limit and a maximum $800 fine + court surcharge. I went to traffic court and negotiated it to a moving violation for failure to yield to emergency vehicle, paid $500 (incl court surcharge and got 2 points. I went to defense driving the same month (Which takes 2 points off your license in my state, and you can go every 18 months) and it never got reported to insurance. In fact, I lowered my premiums because I got a defensive driver certificate. Haha.
It really all depends on your state and your local laws. Call a traffic attorney. Most don't charge to ask questions and many represent you for free unless you get good results. Heck, for a "minor" violation like yours, if you get a good lawyer that knows people and the system (and especially if this is your first violation) he may even get it dropped completely or turned into a non-moving violation (which would be ideal, you still get a fine but not reported to insurance.)

You actually caught a break from the cop since he cited you 14mph over the limit..
If I recall correctly, here in CA, for 1-15mph over the limit, the fine is like slightly more than $200..
However, the fine jumps to more than $300 if you were cited for 15+mph over the limit..
You can go to traffic school every 18 month (from citation date) and if you go to traffic school, the point will not show up on your insurance record (but if you get another ticket within the 18 month period, you can not go to traffic school again)

Thanks guys. man, i usually dont speed unless i am on the freeway. Going 80 instead of 65 is common around here.
Im gonna go to court and plea guilty and just try to get them to lower the price, then go to traffic school so it wont show up :]

go to court pled not guilty there a 50/50 percent chance that the car will or will not show up if he doesnt show up u get it dissmised if he does oh well it was worth trying and u can ask for traffic school if u havent done it within 18 months and if u have done it with u can ask the judge to give u 12 hour traffic school
