not sure how legit that info is.. but just on the safe side i put mine in the cup HOLDER! =POh, to answer the original question, I leave my phone in my pants pocket if it's in my pocket when I get in the car. Sometimes I have my phone in my hand when I get in the car and in that case then it goes into the cup holder.
My sales rep told me that the tiny little compartment under the arm rest lid is for phone storage but there's no way my Blackberry will fit in there. It is PERFECT, however, for all the stupid frequent shopper club cards I've accumulated for every store known to man. I keep them in the car rather than cluttering up my wallet.
