Navigation Option in 2011 C300???

I signed the paper work to lease a 2011 C300 yesterday...I dont pick the car up until Friday. The sales man told me that the car has navigation(battery wasnt hooked up so he couldnt show me). But the car does not have that 5 inch pop-up LCD screen. It just has the standard smaller screen. Is it possible that this car could have navigation without having the pop-up screen or is the sales man mistaken?? He was brand new and didnt seem to know too much....

As far as i know to have navigation the pop up LCD screen must be present that is unless some aftermarket mod was done to the audio 20 screen which i highly doubt is the case. Since he was new he might not know about the car alot.

I think navigation on the regular audio 20 is called the nav+4.

It sounds to me like you have the Universal Media Interface (UMI) option installed which is essentially navigation on the smaller, non-pop-up display.

I have it on my 2010 C300 and to be perfectly honest, I'm not terribly thrilled with it. It very infrequently calculates the most efficient route and the level of detail on the display leaves A LOT to be desired. The one good thing, however, is the voice navigation - it's loud, clear, and seems to work pretty well overall.

Hope that helps.

Is 2011 W204 not a facelift model in the US? If it was a facelift model it would not have the pop-up screen even with Comand (MM) but a fixed one like the GLK or the W212.

The 2012 will be the facelifted model in the US.

As others have said, you can have Nav with the smaller screen if you get the Nav+4 (used to be called UMI). I suspect that's what your car has if the salesman said it has Nav but it doesn't have the motorized screen. I have a car on order and while I was car shopping, I saw A LOT of C Classes on dealer lots with the Nav+4. It's roughly half the price of the full COMAND so it does help to keep the price down with the tradeoff that it feels like an add-on.

Thank you all for the good info...I talked to the sales man today and it does in fact have the nav+4. I would prefer the larger screen but I guess as one of you mentioned this helps keep the price down.

We just leased a 2011 C300 Sport Sedan with the nav+4 and as some others mentioned it's not very good. The resolution is like an old VGA Computer Screen and it's not very intuitive. We had an E-Class 2007 and the system was more refined and of course the screen was larger. Even my portable Garmin has a better display. Really surprised how poor the display is with todays technology and it also is display for audio system.

We have a 2008 E with nav and it is the poorest I've seen. So, if that is more refined than the 2011 Nav+4 in the C Class, the built-in design is not worth the low performance. Get a Garmin and a vent mount for I.P. level sight line.

The UMI is not terrible but it also allows for on screen control of an ipod with the Audio 20 and has built in bluetooth streaming neither of which can be done with the audio 20 with the basic ipod connection. The maps are not very detailed but it gets the job done if you do not want a hugely expensive navigation system.

the screen is terrible on the audio 20, there is no debating that. For the price you pay, you should have better. By far the worst of its class.
