Vehicle insurance can vary by person since there's a lot of factors involved that affects your premium... Age, marital status, location where your vehicle is parked, zip code (low crime rate vs high crime rate areas), driving history, number of years you had your driver's license, number of years insured with the same company (loyalty discount)

I was paying more for car insurance when I was in Maryland but it went down significantly when I moved to Texas

I used to have Progressive for a number of years then switched to a local agent (Farmers Insurance) since I was getting a good discount insuring both my house and vehicle under one provider

Bottom line... Im 30, married, own a house in central Cali, one way commute to and from work is less than 5 miles, No driving record in the past 5 years (No tickets/DUI)... $600 for 6 months

Another round of ICE
This is not a meaningful comparison. No one has identified the effect of all the driving records in the household, the geographic differences with associated risk, limits of liability, the driver's ages and genders, the deductibles, whether total loss is for depreciated value or agreed value, is the policy broad coverage or not, multi-car or home/car combined policies, etc.

P.S. It seems I was writing while ZeroSeVen was posting!

Total Premium $624.60 per 6 months for both cars

( full coverage on both cars )

Because it costs a lot more to insure a white car vs a black car...

Steel Grey Metallic C63!!
To the OP, there are many variables involved with insurance rates. For example, I paid $1000 for 6 months for my C350 with Geico. My C63 cost me only 660 for 6 months with Allstate. I'm in NYC, just like you. How old you are, your education levels, financial credit ratings, home ownership, marriatal status and driving records all make a difference.

Geico. It's worth it just just for their MBI (Mechanical Breakdown Insurance) which is dirt cheap ($30-40 per half year). Basically an extended warranty at a fraction of what Mercedes would have charged. www.geico.com/getaquote/auto/mechanical-breakdown-insurance/

The Hartford for home, umbrella and car; the car insurance is for 3 drivers and 4 cars.
