Car is dead. I HATE this POS.
The thought of owning a MB without any kind of extended warranty really frightens me and we have about 10 more months left of our factory warranty ........ but to purchase a MB Extended Warranty from the dealer is a few K's $$$
Sometimes i wonder why not just trade it in for a new car every 3/4 years and deal with the monthly payments for the rest of my life ?? Hope all goes well with the diagnosis and good luck !!

"Beamer Benz or Bentley, your scheming don’t affect me"
which seemed pretty close. That's quite some song!

I'm at 55k now
If you or he can find a second battery in a W204, I'll send you a dollar bill.
Batteries in a flashlight or the key don't count.

He said there are 2 issues. The reason my car won't start is because my "steering lock module" needs to be replaced and it's "not sending power and not recognizing keys" therefore the car can't start.
Total: $945.00
Other reason he said was that when that there is "a lot of noise from the starter module."
Total: $433.00
So now I'm looking at almost $1500 worth of parts and labor. What do you guys think I should do? This is ridiculous. Any advice would be great. TIA.
my advise would be contact mbusa's customer service and tell them your whole story..
if you bought your car at an authorized dealer and the car has always been serviced at dealer, then mbusa maybe willing to offer you some post warranty assisstant..
I recently ran into issue w/ my UMI which only has 12 month warranty since it is retroffited by dealer and not original equipment and mbusa decide to pickup the tab for the parts (would have to spend $1,290 for the parts out of pocket) and I only had to pay for the labor..
btw, did you buy the car new or used??
Its damn expensive to repair a Mercedes when it breaks.
As if that's not bad enough, you're pretty much at their mercy as to what's really wrong with the car. For all the original poster know, a wire came loose.
If that fails, do you guys think that a local shop can do it? My dad knows the boss of the local Midas and he always gives us better prices when my dad brings the car there and everything. I wonder if I order the parts online from mbparts or something, Midas can just do the install?
Damn this is extremely annoying. At this point, I completely regret not extending the warranty. So for all those who are reaching 4 years or 50k miles and are not thinking about extending (given you are keeping the car for a while), you might want to reconsider but I also understand why you wouldn't because I didn't. Dumb move.
your better bet would be find a good indepdent mb shop and see how much they quote you..
