is it ok to disconnect battery?
as some of you may have read in my other post i have a srs warning on my dash having unplugged the drivers seat to replace the seat buckle.
so i was thinking if i disconnected the battery and left it for abit it might clear the message when i connect it back up.
anyone see any issues with this? i mean am i likely to need anything reprogramming...i.e keys? radio? etc?

I did not experience any problems after disconnecting the battery. I just made sure that the ignition key was off & extracted from the car before doing so.

Slow down.
Seems that disconnecting the battery and either recharging it or replacing it involves more that it does on other cars.
Hold off doing anything until someone more informed comes along.

When the MB dealer disconnected the battery to do some bodywork, the W204 lost all the settings on the computer and had to re-read the manual to find out how to get the dashboard back into English again, and Bluetooth to pair with my cell phone. Maybe you should wait for a service and have them reset it with Star.

I unplug my battery all the time at car shows (a requirement for most shows). Just remove the battery terminal under the red cap. System, trip, and radio settings are still saved.

STEERING WHEEL INSTALL - DISCONNECT BATTERY
I want to install my steering wheel today but wanna make sure an airbag doesn't go off...
and I wanna make sure I dont lose any settings....
Are there any other settings other than the system/trip/radio (above) that will be lost?
thanks in advance

Is removing the "battery ground" the same thing as disconnecting the battery?

Why has nobody else mentioned this in any of the other wheel swap discussions?

The error code light can be reset by reinitiating your TPMS through the gauge, although the history and timestamp of the error is logged and retrievable in your ECU, accessible through a STAR system.

the stored error code is harmless and has no ill effects right? so there is no point to take it to the dealer to have them delete the code as mentioned above?
and the code has to do with the airbag I assume?

lol. ignore what I just said. I quick read what you posted and when you said wheel, I twas thinking vehicle wheels/tires, not steering wheel.
If you get your error message from swapping your steering wheel, it'll need to be reset via STAR. It's the same issue I ran into when I unplugged my front seats when I had them reupholstered. Although if you have battery unplugged and reconnect after you do the wheel swap, it shouldn't throw any codes I do not believe as everything is back to within spec.

I bought a new steering wheel with new airbag to swap with my old steering wheel, I have a e class w212 2011. If I do the swap with battery disconnected, does the airbag error light will come up and I need a reset with STAR ?
